Tommy Taylor was a legendary goal scorer for Manchester United. In 191 games, he scored 131 goals for United. It took Ronaldo 310 Manchester United games to achieve the 131st place. Taylor's life was brutally cut short in Munich while he was only 26 years old.
The centre forward was also making an impression on England, scoring 16 goals in 19 appearances. If his career had continued in the same manner as it began, he would have no doubt scored more than 200 club goals.
A new United record
Ronaldo is also the only Manchester United player since World War II to score goals for the club under three different managers in the same season. Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Michael Carrick, and now Ralf Rangnick, the club legend has scored goals.
According to Opta, the last time this happened was in 1926-27, when two players, James Hanson and Joe Spence, did so. It's also unusual for Manchester United to have three managers in a single season, with Carrick serving as caretaker manager for a short time. Nonetheless, Ronaldo's ability to score under all three managers speaks volumes about his consistency.
