The year 2021 has been a great one in the history of football, this is the year where we have seen the great changes in how football is been organized. It is a year where we have seen the introduction of Video Assistant Referee (VAR), teams playing behind closed doors although it is not punishment, isolation of some players, testing of players twice a week, and the fear of contracting the covid-19 virus from a fellow player.

Despite all these changes in the games years ago, in the following or upcoming months, I am still expecting some changes to occur in the game of football, and these include;

In the coming months, it's feasible that refereeing may be done or supported by robots.

Artificial intelligence, genetics, robots or robotics, and nanotechnology are all well-known and understood, and because they are more precise and rapid than humans, they may take over our work. Sports are no exception, and the recently implemented VAR indicates that refereeing and assistance referees may be taken over by robots in the next months.

The introduction of VAR, which even if causes delays or interferes with the game, fairness is ultimately what is essential and what triumphs. Because VAR has shown to be effective, electronic refereeing won't be far behind with additional cameras, sensors, and AI technology. As technology advances, deciding whether to utilize it or not will become even easier.

No substitute in injury time rule is possible in the next few months.

I kindly remember the sight of Berbatov casually leaving the pitch at a snail’s pace in the dying minutes of a match which they were leading by a loan goal? If this rule is to be effective, then that would become a thing of the past and will make the game more interesting to watch.

It is almost becoming a daily routine for almost every manager as a means of wasting time when they are in lead or the results go in their favor. Considering the 2017/18 premier league season, substitutions after 90 minutes took place in roughly 1/4 of Premier League matches, a 3% increase since 2012 which does not speak well of the game and the fair play. I will expect that the rule is put into action to prevent these things.

Vaccinating all players and supporters for covid-19

Because of how difficult Covid-19 has proven to be, even the adaptation and new variant of the virus been out, I am expecting that all the players and fans who make the game San interesting one to watch will be vaccinated.

Although being vaccinated does not give you 100% assurance that you are safe, it, however, gives you some protection and I am expecting that the team of premier league leaders will ensure that all players are vaccinated to give them some protection likewise any other league or football competition on the world.

I am, however also expecting that players will continue to be in isolation when they are been tested positive for the covid-19 and anticipated that the whole team will be provided from playing their next match if not more than 3 days.

The use of a maximum of five substitutes, as well as the cancellation of a water break, is possible.

I believe that a maximum of five substitutes should be used to help boost the strength of some players. As of now, most leagues allow a maximum of three substitutes for players, and the World Football Organization will review the situation. Because bringing in at least five substitutes will help both teams maintain their energy levels, allowing us to witness a fantastic game.

However, I anticipate that if there is something like a water break, it will be canceled. Although I'm not sure if that idea is still alive, I believe it will be removed from the game in the coming months due to a break period for the players.

Are there some teams you expect to win certain titles?

Absolutely YES is my answer to this question. First of all, In the English Premier League, I am expecting Manchester City to be the winners, runners up been Liverpool, third place been Chelsea and Fourth place been Manchester United. I am however expecting Manchester City to win the Champions League this season. Although they are not 100% good, I think they deserve to have it for this season.

I am also expecting Real Madrid to emerge victorious by winning the Spanish La-Lega and Bayern Munich, winning the German Bundesliga, and also PSG winning the French League one.

On the International front desk, I am expecting Ghana to lift the African cup of Nations for the first time in over 30 years and also expecting them to qualify for the World cup 2022.

For the world Cup 2022, it is very difficult for me to predict the winner but I hoping that when all the teams are out, I will be able to make my predictions for the tournament.

Conclusions

In the football world, I have a lot of expectations, but a few of them are: robots taking over refereeing, no substitute in injury time rule, all players and fans being vaccinated, and the introduction of a maximum substitute of five and the cancellation of the water break could happen in the coming months.

Excellent entry.

I feel a similar way about the 5 substitutions that will likely be universal across all leagues. Currently the premier league is possibly the only one which has 3 substitutions still and play all year long even through harsh winter conditions. This has to change.

Thank you for your participation.

You are absolutely right, something must be done about it. I think the premier league board should consider amending their rules and gives break when necessary and finally bring back the 5 substitution rule as you said.

Thanks for passing by.

I really agree with you when it comes to the international front..seeing Ghana wining the Afcon will be something that will bring so much joy to me and the entire country as a whole. At least the love will be back

No doubt about that. Let's hope they make us proud.

Thanks for the support.

You really went all out in your submission. Great work and laudable suggestions. I think the water break should be maintained though. Players need to catch their breath once in a while
