Arsenal, Westham and Tottenham Hotspur All Slip - The Race For Top 4.

in World Of Football ⚽3 years ago (edited)
The premier league fixtures for gameweek 23 have come to an end and there were some mouth watering matches most of us would have enjoyed.

Others didn't live up to expectation but the results make the league more competetitive. Realistically, quite a number of teams are battling for a top 4 finish with the 4th spot looking the most viable spot for grabs. The teams that look to be in a race for that fourth spot are Spurs, Arsenal, Westham and Manchester United.

Before the weekend's games, Westham were in 4th, Arsenal in 5th and Man United in 6th.

Manchester United played against David Moye's hammers at old trafford and Arsenal played
against relegation threatened Burnley.

Manchester United hosted West Ham United on Saturday in what was a very entertaining match only lacking more goals. Ralf Ragnicks's reds started the game quite well creating some good scoring opportunities but failed to score in the first half.

David Moye's men grew into the game putting in some fine tackles and winning loose balls.

They created goal scoring opportunites in the first half as well but failed to score. The game was very competitive but lacking quality in the final third.

Neither the hammers or the reds managed any shot on target in the entire first half leaving them goalless and level at the break.

The second half started after the break with Manchester United having more possession and better chances to score. However, the reds were only able to manage 3 shots on target from about 13 shots. The hammers managed just a single shot on target from 5 shots.

The game was still goalless after normal time and with neither team looking like taking all 3
points, Manchester United proved again just how important it is to have quality players.

Some fine football was played doen the left hand side and Edinson Cavani laid the ball off for
Marcus Rashford to have a simple tap in.
This victory took the reds to 4th spot pushing Westham to 5th.

Arsenal played against Burley on Sunday in dissapointing result. Before the game I must
admit I was convinced Arseanl were going to smash Burley but that wasn't the case.

Arsenal played out a goalless draw with Burley which could cost them later. Arsenal have been knocked out of all cup competitions and it's now make it or break it for a top 4 finish. With nothing but the league to concentrate on now, I think Arsenal definetely have to make the
top 4.

Will Arteta lose his job if he doesn't make top 4? That's a question only the hierachy of Arsenal FC can answer but it will be disappointing to see Arteta lose his job after he has got the gunners to play entertaining football again.

With that draw, Arsenal slipped to 6th just 2 points away from 4th spot.

At 16:30, it was time for Tottenham Hotspur to face Chelsea for the 4th time this season. I must point out that with the recent performances of Chelsea I did think Spurs would have a chance to get something from the game but how wrong I was.

Chelsea dominated the game from start to finish and just the lack of quality in the final third meant the game was goalless at half time. Spurs did have a goal disallowed because of a foul by Kane on Silva. The decision was met with varying opinions across the world but with my bias for the blues 😋, the decision to rule the goal out was a correct one.

Thomas Tuchel's blues came out more poised in the second half and imedialtely after just 2 minutes got the first goal.

Callum Hudson Odoi went on a brilliant run moving past spurs players and passed to Hakim Ziyech.

Ziyech guided the ball to his left and scored an absolute beauty ball⚽️😎. I've watched that
goal more than a 100 times. If not for Kovacic's goal against Liverpool, it would be my pick for goal of the month at least.

About 10 minutes after the fist goal, Mason Mount delivered a very good free kick into Spur'sbox which Thiago Silva headed home. After the second goal, I wasn't in any doubt the blues would get all 3 points.

From Tottenham Hotspur's perspective, they should be careful not to have bad games like
this if they want to get into top 4. With Westham, Arsenal and Spurs all dropping points, Manchester United currently sit 4th with 38 points, Westham United sit 5th wuth 37 points, Arsenal are in 6th with 36 points and Spurs are in 7th with 36 points.

Although it looks like Man City have run away with the league, we should get some excitement from a top 4 battle with all these teams involved.

Thank you for reading.

Yeah they’ve pulled away from the other teams and I hope they make it interesting. But could wolves creep into the conversation? They a tough team to beat.

Yes I think, wolves will be able to cross. They are actually a very good side just that things has become tough as you said. I hope they will find their way to the top.

Hopefully 🤞. Having more teams in the conversation makes it more exciting if your team isn’t one 😂

The top 4 spot has started heating up …but I tipped Arsenal to win the top 4 spot ahead of Manchester United

Arsenal were in very fine form and I tipped them to get the spot as well. But you just can’t ignore Man United’s quality. They always find a way.
