Engagement Challenge - S6W2: What do I do when I'm Bored
I bring you all greetings from here my dear friends. I am happy to be presenting my second participation ever in this choice community and most especially in this steemit engagement challenge. It is a great topic to be discussing at this time, What do I do when I'm Bored?.
Being bored is a feeling every human must have experienced severally in a lifetime. It is an inevitable state of mind that occurs when there is a feeling of non-satisfaction with a task, being uninterested in an activity, or the lack of task/activity to be done at a given time. However, it is always in the human strength to upturn this anomaly or state of mind without necessarily giving to any breakdown of law.
What causes the feeling of boredom to come, can you identify the cause?
It will interest us to know that it is not only when one is idle that boredom is observed to happen. Even in the midst of our active activities, boredom still occurs.
However, the primary and major cause of boredom is idleness which is a state of not getting involved in any task of any kind. And in this situation, the person is quite energetic and willing to get involved in any activities but hence have non-available.
Secondly, this can also occur where there is Lack of Satisfaction in one's activity. This may be as a result of undergoing a task that is not suitable or because of the monetary reward inherent in engaging. In shut, not doing what we desire as hobbies and recreational activities brings boredom.
Other unannounced causes of boredom may be associated with mental disorders and depression. They may likely be a result of poor rest or unbalanced diets/nutrition.
How do you overcome boredom, what activities do you do?
I have ensured that I reduce incidences of boredom to the bearest minimum by exhibiting some habits. However, these habits have proven to be sustainable for me in handling my boring period.
- Listening to Music
This is a tool that has really helped me in getting me off the boredom. This has a way of calming the situation as it brings in memories that engage one's emotional being and as well occupies it. When there is a power supply, I use my woofer disc player for this purpose and when out of power supply, I have a Bluetooth MP3 player that serves the same purpose.
- Playing Online Games
Using my mobile device has been a useful device that serves the purpose of driving out boredom. With my mobile device, I can have access to a series of online games that engages me more. Some of the commonly played games at these points were Candy Crush & Mortal Kombat.
Share with us tips to prevent or overcome feelings of boredom.
This question is also similar to the already answered question above but however, but tips to prevent boredom would typically be strategies to avoid this state of the mind rather than applying control measures.
Doing those tasks that are recreationally friendly is a smarter way of avoiding boredom. Because of the emotional fulfillment inherent in those activities we are pleased with, makes our spirit-soul-body engaged at all times. Rather than boredom, it gives us joy which is an anti-boredom.
Moreso, as humans we already know our rest or idle periods. Engaging in those curricular activities like listening to music, going on a date, swimming, exercising, etc are the best tips for avoiding boredom. Sometimes, to reduce the stress that might put me in a state of boredom, I try to engage in football activities to help rejuvenate and give me the required mental rest.
And other information that is considered important
Boredom just as we know is a state of mind that inhibits our usual routine lifestyle. Rather than make us, they mare us mostly due to their effect on us. Just as the saying goes, "an idle mind is the devil's workshop". This is a situation that brings about unprecedented activities inimical directly or indirectly to an individual. Boredom is a direct pathway to vices like planned armed robbery, cybercrime, rape, pornography, etc.
Engaging in a task that brings fulfillment like exercising/Sporting, swimming, hanging out, etc should be promoted. These tips should be able to ameliorate incidences of boredom as they arise.
We should also check out health to avoid falling into depression. Boredom is a direct pathway to depression and hence we should avoid this state of mind or reduce its influence when they occur.
Conclusion
Boredom is simply a state or phase that we all as humans must have passed through but one certain thing is getting out of it timely. We have to devise personal ways of overcoming It each time it occurs as well as preventive ways of reoccurrence. It can be managed, it can be prevented, and also stop each time it happens.
