“Big desires and toughest challenges in 2024”
The year 2024 is before us and running down. We have made one or more New Year resolutions with the target set to be achieved as the proceeds. The future is one we continue to anticipate that it comes as we endeavor to work and walk it through. Let's get started with some of the contest guidelines provided by the organizers.
Name your 2 big desires that you will achieve or improve in 2024 and state the reasons for each. |

Relocating from my present apartment:
This is one major task before me in 2024. One funny thing about this is that the time for execution is now given the closeness of my rent expiry time. Several reasons are not far from the fact that I don't feel comfortable any longer staying in the building.
The building is becoming dilapidated as time goes on and every effort to draw the attention of those managing it proved abortive as their concern is only on rent collection and not maintenance. This poses a great danger not only to me but to other tenants.
Another is the fact that there is a need to install some infrastructural facilities to ease the difficulty of getting them. An example is the installation of the prepaid meter that would help reduce estimated billings and the shortchanging that accompanies it.
The roads are becoming unpassable due to the negligence. The unknown construction who came around are bent on making worse of the situation. No one knows our fate as the rains are fast approaching.
Relocating from this apartment would bring changes and resolution to these above-mentioned concerns. Though this would gulp a good amount of money to get a new apartment, it remains the only sure solution.
Achieving my Post-Study Career Abroad:
This is the second in my 2024 list. It has been on the top list since 2023 but wasn't achieved, hence remains on the same list this time. I have desired to have my post studies done abroad most especially in the UK or Canada.
Those have been my choice countries to give me a befitting career path and the possibility of perfecting this through the Post Study Work Permit channel. Those mentioned countries have a greater comparative advantage in education than my country, Nigeria.
This I can say about this second desire so as not to be too expository about my plans. We cannot rule out the highly ostentatious climatic nature that is tourist friendly tourist-friendly

There is one common solution to this, which is Money. It has become an impediment to achieving this task since the initiative started in 2023. It has become the center of all activities to facilitate the execution of these tasks.
Relocating from place to place requires some good funding higher than just paying rent due to the surcharges that accompany it. When I tried planning for this the last time, I considered the inconveniences associated with this and the high cost of surcharges, so I had to retreat. I hope this will be achieved this time.
On the other hand, the tens of thousands in USD required to achieve my post-study international abroad wasn't achievable after several strides towards this. All strategies failed and couldn't come through last year due to this singular factor.
More savings have been made in this regard to help facilitate some of the preliminary processes. Also, sponsors and scholarships sort which are still waiting for approval. I believe it comes through to enable ease off and help consolidate on already ongoing plans.

Among the two stated desires, relocating from my present apartment is a well-achievable desire that would cost me about 500 USD to achieve, unlike post-graduate studies.
Though both are yet to be achieved as of the time of this post, relocating remains an easier task to walk through given the little funds required.
For international postgraduate studies where tens of thousands are involved, it is more demanding and capital-intensive to wall through.
Given the inflationary situation in my country where the NGN exchanges with the USD at a higher rate, achieving this task is humongous but it is better to keep an open mind towards achieving this task.
