Beware of Bullying

in STEEM INDONESIA8 months ago

Hey Steemian friends!

Okay, kids, you might not have the best memories recalling this topic but remember bullying is just an unfortunate event that many of us have to deal with in our lives. Though our experiences may vary, it's important to address the issue and share our experiences to find a reasonable solution. So let me share my experience in this contest.

👉 My experience with Bullying: Sri Lankan style

Growing up in Sri Lanka, my experiences with bullying were quite different from what I often see in foreign movies or TV shows. You know, those storylines with so-called "cool kids" picking on others. Here, things were a bit more straightforward. We weren't into that 'cool kids' versus 'not-so-cool kids' drama. We were one gang, doing all the crazy stuff together.

It was a good lough at the end! Nothing much..

In our school days, if someone did something silly, we'd tease them about it, we'd have a laugh and it was all in good fun. There wasn't any lasting harm intended, and the next moment, the roles could easily reverse. If things got out of hand, fists might fly, but come morning, we'd be sharing breakfast like nothing happened. I've been on both sides of the coin, victim and accused, and in our school life, it was just the way things rolled.

However, when I get to the university or my workplaces, the simple bullying turned more into verbal harassment, with the bosses or higher-ups playing the role of 'dick heads.' A different league altogether.

👉 Equipping the Young Kids
The most powerful ability is accepting and staying true to yourself

I like to give them a survival kit of patience, open communication, empathy, and kindness towards others. Bullies often thrive on the insecurities of others so teaching my kids that being different or anyone seeing them as different is not a flaw but it's your own superpower. When they understand their day, their friends, and their challenges they will eventually be confident enough to stay true to themselves and not let the outside world invade their peace.

Also, I would advise them to talk to someone, a friend, or a family member if things seem beyond their control. Sometimes someone with more experience could have a different perspective which can easily help them to get off the problem.

👉 Overcoming the Bully
Building resilience is key to overcome bullies

Bullying might be a part of the journey in this life because no matter what, we have to face different social levels when we get to society. So if we can stand our ground with words and give less attention and reactions to the bullies they won’t pick you. Keep in mind, there's no universal fix solution to this issue. But, building resilience is key.

Additionally, promoting a culture of standing up for oneself and others against bullying behavior can help create a safer space for everyone.

Thank you for this interesting contest @steem.indonesia. Looking forward to taking on the next week’s challenge. I would like to invite @nainaztengra, @hudamalik20 & @ruthjoe to participate in this contest.

Exactly, back in the day, we just laughed off our friends' jokes, and our parents only stepped in if things escalated into a fight. Nowadays, parents intervene even in minor issues, and kids seem to struggle with managing situations.

Hello dear, greetings to you. I hope you are enjoying the sweet moments of your life.

I believe bullying someone is not good thing. You said when you were kid and someone do something you guys always teasing him. Yes teasing someone is not that much bad, but it should also be UpTo certain limits. If it cross the limit it is considered as bullying.

Wish you best of luck in the contest, keep blessing.

Teasing was quite common in my school years and nobody was an exception. Everybody gets this treatment. But true there are limits to everything and sometime we don't know where the correct line is. This is where we have to educate our kids. Thanks for the comment.
