I am taking part in this contest- ["Unique traditions of Indigenous Peoples in my country "Unique traditions of Indigenous Peoples in my country". Thank you @ridwant for organizing this contest.

The people of Bangladesh are very fond of linguistic and traditional aspects of life. Because we are the only nation in the world to fight for language in 1971 and gained independence. Again there are many tribals in our country and they can follow their traditions and customs just like common Bengali people.

indigenous people live in minor communities in our country. Just as the common people of our country have their own language, religion, and tradition, the Indigenous people also have their language, religion, and tradition. For this reason, the traditions of many tribes have emerged in Bangladesh and there is diversity in the tradition that can make you curious about Bangladesh.

Most of the tribes of Bangladesh live in Sylhet, Chittagong Hill Tracts, Rajshahi, and Mymensingh. One of the notable ethnic groups of Bangladesh is the Khasi people. Today I will talk about the unique tradition of the Khasi people.

Tell an interesting story about a unique tradition of indigenous peoples in your country/region.

Khasi people live in the Sylhet division of Bangladesh. Khasi tribal people live freely in our country like other common people of Bangladesh.

Most of the Khasi people belong to Christianity. Their main livelihood is betel leaf cultivation. Betel leaves are one of their most popular foods.

One of the traditions of the Khasi people is that they have a matriarchal society. However, there is some disagreement among modern Khasi people about whether they are matriarchal.

Khasi people love to sing and dance. Intermarriage is prohibited among the Khasi community. According to their tradition, after marriage the men live in the house of the girl and the men do not get any share of the property.

Why is this tradition unique?

Generally, a patriarchal social system can be observed in our world. But in the case of the Khasi people, a hierarchical social system can be observed.

Usually, women live in their husbands' houses after marriage. However, according to the tradition of Khasi society, husbands live in their wives' houses.

Moreover, women inherit the father's property, while men are somewhat deprived of the property. Women have more rights than men in the social scenario of the Khasi people. And this is the unique aspect of Khasi tradition.

Conclusion

The lifestyle of tribal people is different from that of common people. But they love their culture and tradition more than us. By capitalizing on modernity we often forget our tradition. In this case, the indigenous people are somewhat advanced and they respect their history and traditions.

I am inviting @shamimhossain, @pelon53 & @muzack1 to take part in the contest.
