Greening my village
What is the meaning of greening and its benefits? |
---|
Greening is the act of transforming our living environments into being more environmentally friendly. This involves the adoption of more environmentally friendly lifestyle ways into our environment.
Greening is the process of being more proactive in protecting our environment, such as making our environment greener by planting trees, and plants.
Being green is living a sustainable life and making sure that our activities as individuals or society at large reflect our planetary resource limits, as we depend on our environment for everything such as the air we breathe, the water we drink, and the food we eat.
Therefore, Going green means that we realize how precious the Earth is to us and the implications of not protecting our environment and the world at large, to us and generations unborn.
The world is deteriorating, and this is why going green is crucially beneficial to mankind. 👉 Going green activities, such as Planting more trees can save our environment from being washed away by erosion and landslide.
👉 Greenery is the battle shield of the earth, against global warming which causes a lot of problems for mankind.
👉 Going green improves livelihood as it provides food and shelter for all living things.
What is the important role of afforestation to prevent floods and landslides? |
---|
Afforestation simply means the planting of trees, therefore, how can planting trees prevent all these from happening?
Flood: A flood is a surge of water to occupy or submerge land that is usually waterless.
Afforestation helps prevent sudden flooding and reduces soil erosion by using trees. It assists in the control of water flow with trees being able to resist undue pressure from the water. It also decreases the amount of water released into rivers as trees have a large capacity for water absorption, thus, preventing rivers from having water overflows.
Landslide: A landslide is the washing down of a mass of rock, debris, or earth down a slope.
Afforestation helps in the fight against landslides as tree roots reinforce soil coatings, attach the soil to bedrock, and set up buttresses against soil movement. Planting trees also reduce landslide risks by decreasing soil moisture levels using interception, evaporation, and transpiration as the primary means.
Can you show the greenery in your village do you want to plant some trees in your village? News let us know! |

Seeing the wonderful benefits of planting trees, I don't just want to, but I love to plant more and more trees to make the environment greener and more attractive. Here in Nigeria, Bayelsa state precisely, we experience flooding a lot, almost an annual interval. So I believe planting more and more trees will help reduce its effect on us.
I like to invite @starrchris, @yakspeace, and @ikwal
NOTE: Always have a smile on your face, as you are never fully dressed without one.

I see you've got the "boom" vote, how can you say you don't have support.
It came this morning, I won't tell a lie if it was already given before now. As at time of the announcement, there was no booming. Sorry about that.
No problem, I understand, it's just a misunderstanding?
Thank you for your understanding.
