Went On A Hazelnut Forest Walk

in Amazing Nature4 years ago

We've all been bugging out some from that social isolation Y2K bug in The Matrix, we need to see the light of day to accustom our eyes to the shock of 2020 vision so we went for a walk in Hazelnut Forest. Who knows of such things in our area? Cannot recall anyone mentioning hazelnut trees as a native part of this climatic region. So off we went to explore this forest. Came across a few things. Took some photos and video.

There were many trembling aspen. The hazelnut trees are the smaller ones. Haven't gone to an actual forest for a long time. It's a conservation site surrounded by farms and the odd oil donkey. It is fairly thick brush and trees, it is walkable. You get to that certain point after going deep enough where it all begins to look the same. The greenery and micro ecosystems change fast enough as you walk. In a way you can tell where you are by the type of plants.

We found a frog and a mushroom!

We also found some pretty nice lichens and a rock!!

We went in one direction then we curved a bit on our way back when we hit a fence. On our back it seemed we went too far and the terrain became unfamiliar. We actually got lost! I was having anxiety in life so that's why I got out to the forest with someone. So I experienced anxiety there getting lost. Thinking I may have to sleep there. Not too worry there were cranberry flowers, raspberry leaves and fireweed shoots to eat! So wouldn't have to thirst to death or anything lol. It was good to have the anxiety in that context to balance the other anxiety I've been having. Seems to have worked to balance itself out. After we were done I was glad to have an adventure. Looked forward to getting another coffee after.

So we just followed a fence and then actually came across a sign with a map on it.

Okay we know what way is North and the sun is beginning to set in the West. So we followed the fence still. Eventually we saw a wetland. The person I was with had been there before and recognized the wet land so we knew we were going back in the right direction to the car.

So we did make it out before nightfall no problem. Didn't get rained on. We were protected by the forest. We also saw a beaver. It was pretty big. I did not bother trying to take a photo or video of it. Got away and also was focused on finding a way out at that point. We were there a good 4 hours hiking through the forest the whole time.

Here are some video clip compilations from the trip.

And the next one

All in all it was a real good time. Got me out, take my mind off stuff and not feel closed in at home. Instead was closed in by the forest! It helped me deal with that feeling.

I also like to make music as a form of therapy. I recently put all the sounds all over the place to all these streaming services, stores and such. It was cheap enough for distribution so why not. I'll throw down some of these links plus some of the standard ones I've been using for a long while.
