The Debate (no.27); Difference between equality and equity

Tell us what you understand by equality and equity.

Equality.

The word equality is come from equal which means same. The word equality is about that treating everyone same. Regardless of the difference and make sure that everyone had the same right and treatment. Equality purpose is to promote sameness.

Equity.

Source

Equity means that treating people with honestly and with Justice accounting to their basic needs and and individual difference on them. Equity purpose is to fairness, justice and individual support.

Example.

I gave you example for the better understanding. Consider there is a class which have a number of student. According to this student the word equality mean that giving the same text book, assignment etc.
while the equity means that providing different textbook and assignment based on the student learning style and their to ensure that everyone got success.

Their various advantages and disadvantages.

Equality.

Advantages.

some of the advantages of equality are under,

1. Everyone are the Same.

Equality means everyone have to treated the same its doesn't matter who they are or from where they come.

2. Unity.

Equality helps us feel like that we all are equal, together and having unity.

3. Fair Sharing.

Equality means that we can share things fairly, so everyone will get according they need and no one would be left behind.

Disadvantages.

Disadvantages of equality are,

1. Ignores Individual Differences.

Equality can ignore the needs and strengths of some specific, treating everyone the same even when it is not fair.

2. Limits Personal Freedom.

Equality can also lead to a limiting people freedom to make choices and fulfilled their own goals.

3. Wastes Resources.

Equality can lead to wasting resources by giving everyone the same amount and regardless of need.

Equity.

Advantage.

Here are some of the advantages of equity,

1. Fairness for All.

Equity maintain that everyone gets a fair chance to succeed regardless of their background and circumstances.

2. Individual Support

Equity recognize us that everyone have their different needs and have to provide support to help them reach their full potential.

3. Equal Opportunities.

Equity promotes equal access the equal resource and opportunities, so everyone can contribute and get benefit from the social progress.

Disadvantages.

some of the disadvantages of the equity.

1. Hard to Implement.

Equity can be very hard to put into practice because it requires understanding the rare need according of different people and groups.

2. Requires a lot of Resources.

Providing a complete support and resources can be very time consuming and having very costly.

3. May Lead to Unfairness.

Equity focus on individual needs which can sometimes lead to some people or groups getting more than others which can create new unfair.

Then your personal opinion on which prioritize.

According to my personal opinion both equality and equity is prioritized because they totally each other in promoting fairness and justice. But if I had to choose one I would go to the side of equity prioritizing.

Equity acknowledge the rare needs and experiences of individuals and group which is important for creating a truly inclusive and justice society. By prioritizing equity we can identify and address systemic difference and biases to provide equal opportunities for success. Through equity we have oppertunity to give right according to the justice on them.
