Debate (no.23) - Back to the Future
Back to the past is where I'm going. It will all be possible with AI and modern technology, but I don't belong here, let alone in the future. I don't think there is any point in travelling there because I won't meet my future self.
Now you may think that that is a piece of cake because 20 per cent of the world's population is still left and that 20% has a chip and can easily be traced by an upgrade from goggleXWEF but I don't think so.
The future is not an enlightening time and the man without skills will suffer, fixated on revenge and survival if he has enough energy despite the bad food. A small group will certainly survive purely to survive. Anyone who can remember back then wishes they had gone back in time.

I'm going back, although it may not be in Medieval Paris, the time so well described by Patrick Süskind through whom you smell the world when you read 'Das Parfüm'.
I want to go further back, to where my memory takes me, in the forest where I know I am waiting for my return. There I will meet myself and catch up on how my journey to the future went. A future that didn't have much to offer and that I could barely keep up with. A time when regardless of my age, I am always the oldest and wisest of everyone. I will tell you about Nero, Leonardo and Michelangelo. I will tell myself "I haven't missed anything, the world has not become a better place. Every tree has been cut down for soy fields and houses, the world has only become more polluted and has also started to smell terrible.
Together we, my old self and my future self, will drink to the world we live in. A world where we are still one with nature and don't buy a fake plant from Ikea or Jysk, or have to look at pictures to see what a dog, bird, fish, tree, bread or rice looks like. We listen to the music that nature composes while we eat berries, nuts and mushrooms and read by the moonlight the handwritten book that is eternally in our possession. That unique book that contains everything important that we do not want to and shouldn't forget.

I hope there is a way back. I think there is since the older I get the less interested I am in keeping pace with the techniques. I've been there, I have seen a lot of new developments and most of them I put aside. It gives room for the mind.

I believe from the way we see things that we are of the same generation, and I find a lot in what you write that resonates with me. The last decade has seen an exponential increase in the use of technology in a way that I consider undemocratic and non-inclusive, at least in my country. It's creating social differences among the weaker due to age, increasing the sense of social non-belonging. My view might seem rhetorical. I partly heard it from my grandmother and now from my mother, I don't want to be like them and think that progress isn't right just because I'm old and can't benefit from its advantages, but now it seems different. Almost as if this epochal change was designed to destroy the human sense in approaching daily life and social relationships. I see many people lost in the void, a lack of new ethical references on which to build their beliefs in respect for humanity. Maybe I'm having a mid-life crisis, no, I'm actually playing a part that doesn't belong to me. I'm still someone who believes that we can choose where to live, whether in heaven or in hell, perhaps it's a lack of discussion on these topics with friends with whom I now have nothing else to share unless I lower myself to unbelievable levels to save a friendship. I wanted to participate in the contest of forgiveness but then I didn't have time to finish my notes, so many words written and emails published, why do I throw them away, my laptop can't stand me anymore, I think it has a sort of little brain that keeps all the words I throw away and I know it will laugh at me, I should destroy it, no, I'd regret it too much. This feeling of ongoing dehumanization is making me believe that objects have a soul. Yes, objects are taking the souls of those who abandon them. No, I don't really believe that. Sorry, I've lost track of time again, the vitamin D is doing its effect. Sorry, but I promised a friend who suffers from compulsive affection "emotional dependency" that I'd have a beer with him at 6:30 PM; if I'm late he gets paranoid.🌻😅
