The Debate (no.31): Public vs Private Transportation

Hello Steeminans, I'm here to share my entry on another amazing content.
Firstly transportation can be defined as the movement of people or goods from one place to another.
There are Three means of transportation for example Land, Air, Water.
Forms of Land transportation we have bus, cars,lorries, tricycle, bicycle and others.

Forms of Air transportation include Jet, Aeroplane, helicopter e.t.c.

Transportation is now subdivided in to private and public means;
The private means is owned by someone for the purpose of easy transportation.
The public means is owned by someone for the main purpose of serving others and it is also a type of business and it is very lucrative and profitable because not everyone can afford a private means of transportation.

Public transportation will help to curb carbon emissions because it will limit the numbers of cars on the road as everyone will be operating on the public transportation rather than using his or her own individual vehicle there by causing excessive carbon emissions which leads to air pollution and it is very dangerous to the health.

There are a lot of factors that influences people's transportation choices, I'll discuss a few here;

1. Money: The cash at hand goes a long way to affect our choice of transportation because to afford a private ride is more expensive as compared to a public ride.

1. Distance: the distance involved also goes a long way to affect our choice of transportation because most times public vehicles are more efficient in transportation than private vehicles. A typical example is one travelling from Akwa Ibom state to Lagos state, it's very rare to see a private car ride such a long distance but it's regular for public transport.

2. Safety: Most people prefer using private transportation than public transportation because most times public transport drivers are in a haste to go get other people because they are profit oriented and are at higher chances of getting involved in an accident than private vehicles.

3. Time: Public transportation is usually time consuming as compared to private transportation because the public transport will stop to drop and pick up other people in order to make profit but a private transport heads straight to where it is supposed to go. This is why it is advised for those using public transportation to head out earlier than expected in order to meet up and not be late.

Well, tech does not really affect transportation because certainly not everyone will afford a private transport so there will definitely still be a need for public transportation in order to favor the common man.
Tech advancement can no doubt improve the transport system but the chances of everyone affording it is very slim.

The government can help by the following ways;

1. By improving infrastructure thereby reducing the chances of road accident.

2. By eliminating the tax on public transport drivers.

3. By providing subsides on fuel thereby making it affordable for public transport drivers. This will also benefit the passengers as the cost of transportation will reduce.

4. Providing loans for drivers and intending drivers with a low interest.

The major factor is money, the money we have at hand affects our transport decision. Another Factor is Age, older people deserve to be more comfortable and there is nothing like comfort in a public transportation because the seats are usually tight so the driver can have interest especially in this time where fuel and disel is costly. Time also affect our transport decision because we spend a lot of time in public transportation than private.
Distance also affects our transport decision because some distances are best driven in public transportation and not private transportation.

Public transportation is usually fun in a way because you tend to meet people and communicate especially in a long journey and there's usually a lot to learn in the conversations.
