The Debate (no.23); seeing the future is far better than going in time to see the past

Introduction

This is me, sitting down in my living room, watching Terminator (a time travel movie). Here I am, imagining I have such an invention in my backyard, something that can take me back in the past and hurtle me towards the future. I'd have a lot to rectify in my past and grand ideas I'd love to learn from the future.

I know by now you're itching to hear my plans, but before we delve in, let me invite some friends to join this thought experiment: @lovelystar, @blessingogah-1, and @mhizta.

The Past

For people like me who is fascinated with history, the first stop on my time-traveling adventure would be the Creation. It's high time I've a chat with 'Adam and Eve', they have a whole lot of questions to answer.

According to the Bible, it was never Gods intention for humanity to pass through all this crazy hardship, death, suffering, depression and any other terrible thing we can think of.

We were supposed to be chilling in Eden (paradise) having a good time with God every day, even relaxing with tigers and lions and calling them names like “bingo”. But these couple decided to spoil every thing because of their greed by eating the forbidden fruit that was minding its own business.

They need to explain to me, What were they thinking when they let an ordinary serpent, someone they were supposed to have dominion over, deceive them into eating the forbidden fruit?

Secondly, I'd love to know: How do you reflect on the significance of free will and the consequences of your choices, both for yourselves and for humanity as a whole?

Their answers will help a lot in giving insight into human nature and how the choices we make today shapes the world around us.

If they happen to fall short in their explanations, well, the Time Machine comes in handy again. I'll make sure I bring them to the present day Nigeria, to face the consequences of their wrong decision for the second time in the hands of bad leadership.

Another fascinating hero of mine I will love to see is Nelson Mandela. I’ve always love the way he led his people during and after the apartheid government. He was really inspiring. His stories, challenges he’d pass through and his successes during his reign as a president. This will offer a timeless lesson in resilience and leadership. Meeting such figure, will probably deepen my knowledge of his history and give my ideas on how to carry my country to right path when I become president.

The future

If I’m given the privilege to see the future me, it will really be a journey worth traveling because I’ll really love to ask the “future old me” to enlighten me on what to do in the present time to correct whatever error in time to come.

Secondly the possibility of getting valuable life lessons and perspectives from the future me, after having a sneak peek into the future. This will definitely change some of my decisions that I’ve taken in the present time.

Seeing my “future me”, is like seeing my mentor, who has passed through the battles of life and teaching me, how to overcome them. Before I go back, I will definitely ask him to give me football “sure odds”, so that I can predict in the present day…. Lol.

my support for future

In my own opinion, I’ll say both of them offer the potential for growth but I will definitely support the “future” because:

There are lots of ground breaking records to set especially in the areas of medicine. A lot of people are dying over strange diseases like AIDS, it will be nice getting a permanent cure and saving many lives rather than living on anti recto viral drugs all your lives.

Traveling to the future will help me avoid certain mistakes that I’m likely to make and avoid them from doing it.

Experiencing future possibilities can ignite creativity and imagination. For example, flying cars will be everywhere by now to avoid all this unnecessary traffic congestion on land.

I hope With this few point of mine, I’ve been able to convince and not confuse you that… visiting the future, is far better than going back in time to the past

dear @sbamsoneu, from your entry I have to come to know that the Time Machine is used to bring historical figures like Nelson Mandela to present-day Nigeria to face the consequences of bad leadership decisions. Meeting Mandela would provide lessons in resilience and leadership. Seeing the future you would offer valuable life lessons and perspectives, potentially changing present decisions. Supporting the future offers potential for growth, especially in areas like medicine and avoiding future mistakes, thank you for this knowledge. good luck.

So you want to be chilling with tigers and reptiles while holding a bottle of beer . wonderful 🤣 Anyways, if it is possible for someone to go back to the past, I would have asked God lots of questions. Why death? Why can't we be immortals? Why so much troubles and persecutions in this world? Why can't there be no discrimination between the poor and the rich? Why do people suffer till death? So many endless questions to ask God.
Abeg when you invent the time machine, holla at me, I want to check something. 😄
