The Debate (Week 26); No More Diseases or No More Wars, which will it be?
Hello friends, great is my delight to participate in the debate topic of the week as for sometimes now have not been regular due to certain circumstances. But come what as it may be I'm fully back !!
I would like to write on the proposition”wars or diseases which will it be”. I will choose diseases instead of wars with the following points.This is because if you would reflect on the meaning of the two inseparable terms, and the aftermath of the indelible effects of the two, you would agree with me that disease is better than war.
Firstly, war is the mother of disease and hunger. Without war most diseases affecting those war-torn nations would not have taken place. It would have been cured before it spreads. During the war, parents and families die or run away looking for safety or even taken as hostages leaving their children behind. The deprived children are not properly cared for, they become desolate, eat from the ruins and carbages, stay in a dirty polluted environment contracting all sorts of diseases. A typical examples are those war-torn countries of Yemen, Somalia, Uganda and Syria where women and children are infected with all sorts of diseases and hunger due to war.
Additionally war leads to the destruction of health facilities and elimination of health workers. You would agree with me that, without the dread of war, doctors and nurses would have have been available to treat infected persons. They are either killed or fled for safety.
Furthermore, diseases are preferable to war because diseases don't just happen. It's as a result of dirty environment and lack of proper nutrition.War impacts negatively on the social and economic environment, destroying lives,homes, properties and social institutions.It leaves stench of dead bodies on the street, debris of collapsed buildings and structures, this impacts on the environment creating pollutants leading to airborne diseases and other infections.
Lastly, diseases are treatable and preventable. If people are innoculated, they wouldn't contract diseases but paraventure it happens by chance, there's always medications to treat the disease and even permanently curing it. Whereas war is unpredictable, callous and destructive. The after effect of war is indelible, enduring in the sands of time,leaving the victims with fear, depression, lost. protracted sorrow of loosing love ones. For centuries, nations of war still struggling to rebuild the lost infrastructures destroyed during the war. Such countries like Somalia, North East of Nigeria, Yemen, Uganda Syria and many more.
With the foregoing points, you would agree with me that diseases are better choice in comparison to war, though both leads to termination of life but a protracted war is the mother of diseases, it's devastating impacts are indelible on the mind and the sands of time. Diseases are treatable, preventable and even curable.

War is truly the mother of all diseases, I still remember my history. The war between Hiroshima and Nagasaki, the destruction made during the war between this two war-torn entities. As I've read through history, I'm made to understand that no life can survive in Nagasaki due to the effects of nuclear weapons that was released during war in that place. The nuclear weapon I learnt, claimed every single life in that place and that the only thing left there is just the ruins.
I truly support your choice, no one should pray for war, rather, we ask that God will heal us and heal our land.
