The Debate (no.20); It is Better to Teach a Man to Fish than Given Him a Fish
Teach a Man to Fish and you feed him for a life time is better than Given a man a Fish to feed for just a Day.
Sincerely speaking, if you take a look at the concluding part of the contest of both sides that is "and you feed him for a day" and also "and you feed him for a lifetime", with the spirit of empathy without being bias you will agree with me that the later which is "and you feed him for a lifetime" is more preferable.
For you to prefer given him a fish to feed for a day means that your intention is towards reducing the man into servitude so that he will never be a free man but rather depending on you all through his lifetime. If not, teaching the man how to fish is better. Giving a man something that will last for a lifetime is like proffering a permanent solution to a problem which is more better than temporal solution.
If you teach the man how to fish it allows him the opportunity to have the same knowledge you have acquired which in turn will make him to be self-reliance and will not bother you any longer. By so doing the man will not need to depend on you anymore for fish. Now that the man can now fish by himself, he assumed to be an independent man who can cater for himself.
If you equiped him with the required skills and knowledge it transform him from being a begger for daily fish to a fisherman. What I mean here is that, he now know how to catch the fish by himself and will not need to bother anyone before he eat. Teach him how to make money by himself is better than giving him money thereby making him dependent on you always.
It is very important to know, by teaching him how to fish does not literally mean being a fisherman, it is a proverb that connotes teaching him how to get money or any suchlike by himself rather than giving him money to eat for just a day without giving him the knowledge he needs to earn independently.
I will like to invite my friends, @cletuskevin, @josepha and @samuelernest to join this contest.
This is an amazing post, thank you for this enlightening. I quite agree with you "If you equiped him with the required skills and knowledge it will transform him from being a begger ". He will be a man of his own. Goodluck in this contest.
