The debate (31) public vs private transportation

Introduction
A warm greetings to my fellow steemians I'm john from Nigeria how are you all doing today hope you all enjoying the beautiful moment of June , it's my pleasure having you in this contest, here in #steem-fashion-&-style and the topic of this contest is debate on public vs private transportation I decided to take part in this contest to share my views and as well bring out the best in me.

Before moving on to the contest hints and questions I will like us to have small discussion on the meaning and difference between the two options given above..
Private transportation is the individual particular means of transportation that is not use by the public e.g private cars, bikes and bicycle e.t.c. While public transportation also known as mass transit is a transportation system used by the general public e.g includes train, buses, ship and other types of transport that are available to the general public.

How does public transportation cut carbon emissions versus private cars?
Public transportation helps minimize and reduce the total use of petrol in the country which you know that the high use of petroleum leads in high demand for it which at the same time causes inflation of goods and services in our community, while private or individuals transportation which makes use of high petrol on a single journey that would have been possible to transport many people at same time this leads to scarcity and high demand of petroleum in the society and you know what that means

What influences people's transport choices?
There are many reasons which influences people's transport choices which I will be sharing with you some of the reasons....

• firstly i will say insufficient funds many people prefer public transport than private transport due to insufficient money to get their own private vehicle .
• standard of living influences people to different transport choices e.g the rich and wealthy ones mostly makes use of private transportation while the poor and unwealthy ones mostly makes use of public transport.
• another reason is the presence of little children most people rather prefer private transport when they are with little children to avoid injuries and suffocation of the baby they are caring
• environment you are staying also matter like for e.g many people staying at Victoria island in Lagos has cars which encourage private transportation rather than public trans and influences people on the use of private transport
• gender and age of an individual also influences and determine the transport choice you make or chosen
• personality and title in the community or country also influences people transport choices as well decision e.g the president, governor and other political leader cannot be seen in public transport.
• bad roads and fear of been kidnapped also makes people prefer public transport rather than private transport in order to hide their Identity and wealth, the people may have a private car but decides to follow public transportation for safety.

Can tech advancements make private transport greener?
Definitely yes because they have been many advancement and development of technology in this past years where most cares have been Autonomous Vehicles which are self driving cars and also some cars now are no longer using petrol instead they are rechargeable cars which helps reduce the pressure on petrol, they are so many other advancement which I did not mention that have taken place.

How can governments boost public transport use sustainably?
Government as a whole can play a great and important role in public transportation aspect by the following ways...

• the government have to provide good roads for safety and efficient movement of vehicles from one place to another
• by reducing the high cost of petrol in the country so as to encourage traveling because I believe most people don't travel because of high transport fair.
• the government should also invest in public transportation by providing cars and buses on hire purchase for those who can't afford it,
• like I earlier mentioned that most cars in this modern world now are electrical such like train, buses, cable car and so on government should try by providing for those types for vehicle for effective transportation.
• Also by making standard and effective traffic congestion and also provide road security like customs and road safety.

What social/economic factors affect transport decisions?
Some social/economics factors that affect transport are ...

• Accident which affect transport decisions because most people usually have the fear of an accident which may cause a fatal injury or death as the case may be .
• robbery and kidnapping which discourage people most on the aspect of making transport decisions
• another factors or reason is traffic congestion, most urban road usually have hold up that usually last up to an hour which really affect people deeply especially does going to works .
