Steemit Engagement Challenge-S14W1 | Share your thoughts about word "Fashion"

Thanks to all team members of Steem Fashion&Style for giving me opportunity to participate in such a interesting global topic of discussion. Before I start my presentation I would like to invite three of friends to participate in the engagement challenge. @baizid123 @viajarparasanar @paholags

What is fashion in your words?

I believe in fashion which is sustainable, eco-friendly and innovative. I always believe in value for money. When I was young we were in a joint family. Total no of boys in the family at that time was seven. Normally during the annual festival, we used to get pants and a shirt which was made from the same clothing and of course a pair of shoes also. Every year in winter one woollen coat and woollen shawl were bought which was worn by the eldest brother. Next year it was worn by my eldest brother. So a dress was used for seven years in a row. Sometimes it was torn on the last lap. I don’t remember exactly how this tradition was discontinued. I wore my first trouser as a school uniform.

Actually I believe in plain living and high thinking. Though there were provocations by the friends and relatives who were fashionable, but I always tried to restrain myself from such stimulation. I think in our youth there were a lot of hippies who used to come to Kolkata. They actually imbibe the culture of Jeans in India. Yes I also liked Levi's jeans. There were no official sales counters of Levi's in India. I also wore one original Levi's jeans borrowed from one of my friends who got it from his USA based sister as a gift. Somehow my casual wear was always jeans and t-shirt except in summer.

In fact Steve Job's wear also includes blue jeans, a black turtleneck and sneakers. Which is considered as extremely simple and modest.

Do you agree that 'fashion stimulates our self-confidence?'

Fashion is an aesthetic expression, at a particular place and period and in a specific context, of clothing, footwear, accessories, lifestyle, hairstyle, makeup, and body proportions. ...as signifiers of social status, self-expression exuding self-confidence.

Do you think fashion matters to our success?

The researchers find less at how our clothes make others value us but instead at how our clothes make us think about ourselves and behave at work. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the researchers found that we perform better in our work when we feel good about how we look.Dressing professionally can help form a positive impact on people you meet in the workplace.

By choosing clothes that make us feel good, we can enhance our mood, manifest ourselves, and upgrade our overall quality of life. Fashion is a rewarding and meaningful way of self assertiveness and art, and brings a sense of delight and joy.

Write reasons why fashion is important or why fashion isn’t important to our lives?"

Fashion is a double edged sword, it has it's negative and positive side. The endless creation of new clothes comes with a heavy environmental price for consumption of water and industrial water pollution as a result of textile, lather treatment and dying.

Additionally, the pressure to conform to certain fashion trends or societal beauty standards can lead to body image issues, which can have a negative impact on mental health.

This overconsumption and overproduction make fast fashion the second most polluting industry in the world. Cheap clothes need low cost labor. Fast fashion is destroying the second hand clothes trade.
