The Debate (no.); Students should not be allowed to use phone in the examination hall
Examination is to test a student's knowledge about what he/she was taught. Examination helps the teacher to know how many students understand the lesson that was taught.
Now, back to the issue of students using phones or being allowed in to the examination hall with mobile phones. If you ask me why I strongly oppose that, I have the following points to convince you that students of any level, in high school or higher institutions should not be given such privileges to go into examination hall.
- The mobile phone constitutes a lot of distraction. Can you imagine a student with a mobile phone in the examination hall receiving a call from parents, spouse, children or any loved one? If peradventually the call came in more than expected?
Even without taking that call, the individual's mind would be disorganised. The call could just be a casual one, but immediately it is persistent, the person will lose focus and may sometimes attempt to take the call.
Phone ringing or speaking on the phone in the examination hall constitute a nuisance to other serious students on the same premises.
- Temptation to cheat: There are many who may not use the phone in the examination with the intention of cheating, but due to the availability of quick help (the phone), the individual may be tempted to make use of the phone to either browse for answers or contact people for answers to questions.
- Discourages good learning/reading habits: A student that's allowed to enter the examination hall with a mobile phone may not want to study in order to read and pass his exams. The student may devise a shortcut (means) he will use to cheat during the examination. You see, the way technology is, till he programs everything no one may have an idea about what his plans are.
- Cheating (examination malpractice): Already, we are all aware of the possibility of students using phones and other means for malpractices. So, leaving students with phones in the examination hall may lead to outward examination malpractice, which is prevalent in my country.
With these few points, I am sure I've been able to convince you that students of any pedigree should not be allowed into the examination hall with phones. Students, no matter the invitation and offer, say no to it, you can be tempted.
Students of any class should not be allowed to use a mobile phone in the examination situation, whether it is the demand of the school or any university, it is also against ethics and knowledge law and I do not think there will be any teacher who supports this thing. And at the same time, some strict rules will also have to be made, by following which students can avoid this thing.
That's true, strict rules should be made against such laws, it's truly unethical. I appreciate your meaningful comment.
Thank you my friend.
I wonder if teachers have a saying in this many students do not give a ...about the teacher, people who are bullied by students as well.
Thank you, friend!

Upvoted. Thank You for sending some of your rewards to @null. It will make Steem stronger.
You have convinced me indeed. Students are easily distracted and allowing them bring phone to school is another problem. Love how you stated the effects of using phones in school. Good luck with your entry
Thank you, for stopping by to read, I appreciate your lovely comment.
Your welcome
Hi @eveetim, excellent your point of view, cheating, distraction and lack of concentration are the consequences of having a phone in the classroom.
I agree with your opinion in this debate, it should be forbidden in any way that, devices are allowed in educational institutions.
Regards.
I appreciate your time reading through and especially your meaningful comment. Thank you, my friend.
I totally agree with you. If you visit school, are in the classroom there's no need for a phone.
So no phones, put them in your locker or the teacher can collect them and after being switched off in a drawer.
Both my children complain about certain students who don't pay attention to the teacher. They watch sports, tiktok, youtube and annoy those who want to learn something.
Entire generations grew up, visited school without a phone glued to their hand. By the way primary schools rarely allow it. What I do find strange is parents, friends calling during the day children are at school, to me the same counts for being at work. The reasons are rarely an emergency call so show some respect students, pay attention to the teacher. If you do not like to learn, if you rather stay stupid, if you like to be a clown, stay out of the classroom!
If it comes to exams I find it strange this is even allowed. It's the first time I hear about it.
Good topic for a debate.
❤️🍀
I see no point where parents allow children to go to school with phones and expect them to pay attention to learning, imagine them being distractions to others who genuinely want to learn. It's truly uncalled for.
Thank you, for your valuable comment, this indeed means a lot to me.
I consider a phone private and so are phonecalls. I was taught that phonecalls are not made in public and if you talk to someone you pay full attention.
I know when my children leave to school and when they travel back. Not once in all those years I called them. My eldest never had a phone, the youngest at the age of 15 or so.
My youngest told me lately one of the girls in her class had a phone and it jept ringing, beeping and so on. As the teacher told her to switch it off she said she didn't know how to do it. Of course she lied, I know this child, gaming and phone addicted even her parents complain about it plus send her to a psychiatrist because of it.
The main problem is the teacher is not strict. She should take the phone away or send this girl away/to the principal's office.
My son says it's the same with some of his teachers they just say they will be punished but it never happens. During these lesdons it's chaotic and a lot of noise and my son says it's hard to concentrate. :(
I think the school has to set rules so teachers and students know how or what including the consequences.
Phones just like weapons and violent people do not belong in a classroom.
🍀❤️
You're absolutely correct, the teacher is strict and the school by extension should also give rules and regulations that binds people from the use of phones while in school.
I am a teacher, I'm not sure if any child could boldly bring out a phone in my class. My school doesn't tolerate that, if not the entire school would be beeping with phones.
The rule is if a child brings a phone to school, the phone will be ceased. That's why no one cares it because the school is strict on that.
I so appreciate your time and the meaningful comment. Thank you!
It's good your school set strict rules. So did the former school of my children. In case of emergency parents could call the principal. Those few with a phone received it back as they went home.
If the school sets rules no one can scold the teacher which is important as well. During exams it's a big no.
I once read an article about a Chinese school where all exam candidates had the highest scores. How? They had earplugs and they received the right answers that way.
Good luck with the debate
Thank you for the supports, it's appreciated.
As regards examination alot of students will want to rely on phones since it's available. And taking phone calls in exam call can disorganize the exam. It will be best if phones are banned in schools.Nice entry dear
Hi @eveetim your have pointed out the view of lack of concentration, distraction, and cheating, while having a phone
Thanks for stopping by, this indeed means a lot to me.
Your welcome
Yes @eveetim. Smartphones in school serves as distraction to the students. This could also lead to decrease in self-confidence, in the sence that the students are likely to always depend on their phones and lacks the ability to do things them selves. It could also lead to exam malpractice as you stated, and also discourage good reading and learning habit. What a great post you've put together. Thumbs up
Thank you, I so much value your comment, I'm encouraged by your compliment.
