In the first place, let's look at these two words "equality and equity"
I want to look at equality as an act of being the same in measurements,in quality, in status and in resources distributions.

And equity as "being fair to with equal dignity and respect all in respective of status or what have you.

Their various advantages and disadvantages.

• One of the advantages of equality is that promotes fairness by ensuring that everyone has the same rights, opportunites and access to resources inrespective of their individual social status.

• Equality can also leads to increase productivity since individual will utilise their talents in production since everyone is respected inrespective of status.

• There is respect for human dignity. Human being are treated with respect and their fundamental human rights are protected.

• It also improve the quality of life of individual since they can have access to housing, healthcare, education and other essential services like pipe- water, electricity to improve the overall quality of life.

• It's make people to have a voice in democratic activities through participation fully in the political process.

With these advantages, it has some disadvantages thus:

• Equality reduces the incentive to work. Individual in some cases relaxes and don't brainstorm to come with new innovations that will promote growth because everything is for everyone.

• There is also resistance to change. There is this saying that a child should not be spooned feed. Some may refuse to think of new ideas because everything is there.

• There will be an inefficient allocation of resources because the skills, talents, and needs of individuals will not be fully accounted for.

• And also because of individual biases and greed, it may be very difficult to practice the principle of equality.

Equity which is a fair and just distribution of resources, has some advantages such as:

• It tries to solve the issue of disparities by providing additional support to those who may be denied.

• It promotes the inclusion and representation of diverse perspectives and resources, such can lead to a more informed decision

• It recognizes the unique needs, experiences, and contributions of individuals and groups, promoting a more inclusive and diverse society.

• It brings intergenerational impact i.e breaking cycles of disadvantages and creating more equitable opportunities for future generations

The disadvantages of equity are;

• Implementation may be difficult and complex because it requires a deep understanding of individual circumstances, barriers, and needs.

• There may be resistance to change from those who benefit from the status quo or perceive it as a threat to their interests.

• Potential for abuse; in an attempt to pursue equity could be used as as as a pretext for political agenda leading to the misallocation of resources to individuals' rights.

In my personal opinion, equality is prioritized.
When everyone in society is carried along, they will feel belong.

Equality promotes security since everyone is given what supposed to belong to.

It promotes growth and productivity. Where every citizen in the society enjoys liberty, talents w,ill be fully exploited and lead to innovations which in turn increase productivity.
