The Debate (no.20); Teaching Someone to Fish is Better than Given Him a Fish
To my own understanding, to "Give a man a fish" means to satisfy his immediate needs at hand which is just temporal. On the other hand to "Teach a man to fish, can also be seeing as equipping the man with necessary knowledge that he need to be independent in future."
Teach a Man to Fish is better than Given a man a Fish.
When you give a man the required knowledge to fish, the man will not need to depend on you for daily fish. Since the man can fish by himself now, he becomes a man of himself who is able to take care of himself.
When you teach a man how to fish, it gives him the ability to work in other to earn his personal income which he can use to establish himself and to also explore some possible investment platform for stable growth.
There's always a limit to how your given can be, when you give a man fish for example to feed for a day; after that day he return again the next day. By continues coming, you will soon be weary because the man will totally depend on you for his daily provision.
There's nothing worth celebrating like freedom, you will not know the true beauty of freedom until you find yourself in the prison ward.
What is my point here? My point is that when you teach a man how to fish and he master it to the point of being a man who can stand on his own, it makes him a free man and to be a free man is to be a happy man.
If you choose to be given him fish always instead of teaching how to fish, there are some of his basic needs that you may not meet; this is because human being naturally have insatiable needs. Teaching him to be on his own will allow him to solve his problem by using what we call scale of preference to derived satisfaction even with the limited resources at his disposal.

Teaching fishing is key. No fear from giving alms to people. Find out the hidden skills in him and put the skills to work. It is the main goal to make a person self-reliant. Anyway, I think like you that it is better to teach a man to fish than to feed him one meal
