Today, I’m glad for the opportunity to join the “SFS Contest Week 27 | Drawing Contest | Draw A Pomegranate” by @hive-126193. I love working on art, so this challenge will be rather experimental for me and I would like to share my perception of the pomegranate. This is a splendid fruit, which has a rather juicy red color and rather complex seed structure – this gives me a marvelous chance to toy with both aspects in my drawing.
I’m excited to start this artistic work and couldn’t be happier to present you the results of my effort. Please look forward to the coming pomegranate drawing and I sincerely hope many of you would like it as I did when I was drawing it.
🔹White Paper
🔹Pencil
🔹Eraser
🔹Poster Colors
🔹Black Color Pen
The first step that I took with the white paper was to draw two circular shapes using the graphite pencil. One shape was a whole shape of pomegranate whereas the other was like a pomegranate cut in half. This first draft offered me the main profile which will be shown in my drawing.
Subsequently, I sketched a part at the base of the pomegranate which has the flair of a flower in it. This was worked out minutely to the shape of the pomegranate which this also resembles.
About the half-cut pomegranate, I drew the further details, such as arils (seeds) from inside. For seeds motif I was very particular in drawing them properly to make sure that they look like seeds as they are.
To put more detail to the drawing I added some leaves around the pomegranate and on the bottom of it I made a cut section. Then I added a small cut piece of pomegranate.
Next, it was the turn of coloring since the drawing part was over. I began with the painting of the inside of the half-cut pomegranate that is yellow, and, as with the layering of the bolder color, I painted some portion of the whole pomegranate and the flower-like base.
To paint the outer part of the pomegranate I painted it red in order to make it look like a normal pomegranate. Then I placed color within the seeds on the half-cut pomegranate so they fill in the space with their unique appearance.
In the last step, I painted the leaves in some kind of green tone to provide the illustration part a natural and bright look.
Thus, by following these above-mentioned steps, I intended to make the pomegranate come alive and stand out for its vivid colors.
