I am thrilled to participate in the "Sacrifice" competition orchestrated by the Steem Fashion & Style community. Gratitude is extended to @mostofajaman for organizing this thought-provoking theme . The concept of sacrifice encompasses acts of selflessness and unwavering dedication. In my submission, I shall elucidate my perspectives and recount my encounters with this significant subject hope you get pleasure from my contribution.

Who do we sacrifice for?

In my opinion, the answer to the question of whom we sacrifice for has many layers that mirror diverse roles and bonds. Primarily, sacrifices will be made for the good of our family. Parents never turn their back on their children's future and always compromise theirs to put them through anything they dream of, showing infinite love and loyalty. Secondly, we give our time and other possessions to our friends and the people we love. Caring means friendship, love, and putting all efforts into helping other people even if it is uncomfortable for the woman. Thirdly, we sacrifice for the society and for the community we belong. People lay down their lives for something bigger than themselves: a dream, a mission, or even a cause to challenge the status quo by giving their precious time to the community through volunteering or joining government service. Finally, we make sacrifices or invest time and effort into our own goals and aspirations. It is the storekeeper who shall be willing to sacrifice the small gains in the short term, spend time in school, or be willing to work harder.

That is why sacrifice is an essential component of life as it means devotion and affection to loved ones as well as the principles and values we believe in.

Sacrifice is important to be successful, in order to attain something we have to lose something. Life for the most part is putting off what it is you want that moment. We gave up sports and traveling to study and learn. Our hard work becomes worth as dedicated and sacrifice is what actually paves the road to success. When we want something, we must put into a sacrifice for it and when realizing the meaning it gives us, it builds up validation on how worthwhile their sacrifices are, earning further appreciation from loved ones. Furthermore, we romanticize these sacrifices as if it is a genuine virtue; one that rewards our success in this world, and the next.

What sacrifices have you made in your life and why?

As it is with many of us I started my professional life right after getting married. I got a job in a prestigious organization, with lots of expectations to fulfill my potential as a professional and achieve success. However, taking place in a vast panorama of the life story, a new chapter was to start soon – the chapter of happiness, the chapter of motherhood. Sacrificing career growth and striving for the best job and goals I decided to be a full-time mother to my baby and a wife to my husband. This choice took me on a different path – at least temporarily not pursuing the ‘perfect’ job for me. Still, it has brought the richness into my life that is the feeling of a mother, and no other feeling can compare to it. It was not as if it was giving up something, a sacrifice in that sense, but rather a conscious decision or perhaps a redirection in my life when I decided that the upbringing of my son was important to me.

What is the original meaning of Sacrifice and what do we achieve by sacrificing?

Sacrifice in simple terms means that one has to forfeit something he or she values and this has its roots in the prehistoric period when individuals had to give up valuable products and or services to god. But today the word ‘Sacrifice’ is defined as one who is willing to relinquish something that he or she has deemed valuable, for someone or something else. However, important to note that sacrifice as known in our everyday existence entails the act of denial of something we fancy or something dear to us so that others may benefit or perhaps achieve something noble. For instance, if an individual gives up a social event with friends to provide care for a family member who is sick, then this is love. This is a true test of selflessness, a virtue that entails subordinating one’s own needs and wishes to a teammate or a partner.

What We Achieve by Sacrificing

🔹Developing the self: Willingly giving up immediate pleasures helps you to grow and master a new skill.

🔹Building Relationships: Responding to conflicts by compromising and prioritizing the needs of others can establish trust and respect.

🔹Long-term Goals: Sacrificing immediate gratification for achieving something significant.

🔹Social and Civic Advantages: Volunteering and donating promote social cohesion and contribute to the common good.

So to summarize sacrificing in this sense is when you actually execute some of the more important values because they are worth it to reap a much greater and meaningful harvest.
