SFS Contest Picture of the Day Week 19
Hello everyone,
Hope you are well and having a great time on Steemit. I am also well, Alhamdulillah. Today I am sharing a picture and story of my rural heritage in the 19th week of the series Photo of the Day organized by the respected admin of the Steemit Fashion and Style community @ashkhan. I invite you @amjadsharif @pathanapsana @selina1 to participate in this competition.
This picture is of our village paddy steaming which is used to produce rice from paddy. In our house, we cook rice like this for eating at home every season. Today is the first time in this season that my mother is cooking rice. I have been adding chalk to the stove since evening to keep the fire going. This is a completely natural process of preparing rice from rice. Once the rice is cooked, the cooked rice will be dried in the sun. Earlier, we used a dhenkikal to extract the rice from this rice, but now, with the help of technology, rice can be easily broken from the rice in a husking mill. The quality of this rice has improved a lot. This rice has complete fiber, which is not present in the polished shiny rice of the auto rice mill.
This work of steaming rice begins. After the rice is ripe, when the rice comes home, the only thought in my mother's mind is the thought of steaming our rice for the next six months. Many people steam rice in different ways. We always cook rice in two large pots, holding 50 kg of rice in each pot. While cooking the rice, mud is applied to the outside of the pot so that it does not turn black in the heat of the fire. This act of rice siddha is not just the process of making rice, it can be considered as our tradition. During this rice siddha, many people in the village come together and different stories are told and a unity is created.
You can mention in the comments what is the process of making rice in your country or your area.
