Fashion comes and goes
It repeats that fashion changes according to age, religion, culture. I agree with you that fashion can't be a means of success (different if it's just fashion competition) success is based on talent and aptitude or skill. If fashion were the means of success, then through the ages the economically poor but talented would have been oppressed and the incompetent and arrogant would have succeeded.
