Ginger cultivation is a very profitable
Ginger is one of the spicy vegetables. The popularity of ginger can be gauged from the fact that there is hardly a year in Pakistan in which ginger is not included. Authorities include it in many medicines that are useful for the treatment of various ailments. Especially in winter season, the use of fresh ginger is increasing. Ginger is also used to make syrups, jams and pickles which are very tasty and beneficial.

Seed Selection and Seed Rate:

When buying seeds, make sure that the ginger is fresh, its eyes are healthy and its skin is not peeled. Raw ginger peels off easily, which is not good for seeds, so use fully cooked ginger for seeds. The characteristic of good and ripe ginger for seeds is that its skin is ripe on the top and fibrous on the inside when it is broken. One acre requires 640 to 720 kg of ginger.

Preparation seed and its germination:

Cut the ginger seeds into small pieces of 25 to 30 grams and make sure that there are at least one or two right eyes on each piece so that they can grow when played. It is very important to germinate the seeds before sowing because without it the growth of the seedlings is barely 42% and the yield is affected due to incomplete number of plants in the field. If the seed is first germinated by pressing in sand or sawdust, the germination is up to 80%. Place the seed in a room for germination by laying a five to seven and a half centimeter thick layer of sand or sawdust on the bottom. Place seeds on this layer and cover again with sand or sawdust. If the seed is large, place it upside down in several layers of this type and then sprinkle with water. Then spray lightly every third or fourth day to retain moisture. By doing this, depending on the season, in 10 to 15 days, small flowers appear on the seed instead of the eyes. Seed sprouted in this way is very suitable for cultivation.

Shade:

Ginger requires shade to grow. The shade of native mango, guava, locust, berry, herb and amla trees proves to be very suitable. Shade trees should be at least 7-6 meters high and their branches should be joined together from above as most of them stop the growth and development of plants due to sun exposure and eventually the plants wither. To protect the ginger plants from the deadly effects of heat, choose a place in the middle of the garden so that hot air from any direction, ie heat, cannot reach them. The shaded trees like Pewandi Mango, Kano, Masmi, Malta, Jantar and Lychee are unsuitable for ginger cultivation as their shade is more dense and the branches are very low and the roots are spread over the surface of the earth which is all Take the food yourself. Therefore, ginger plants cannot provide adequate light and food. The shade should not be too thick to allow adequate light and air to pass through, nor too thick to allow the plants to dry out due to the sun.

Earth and its preparation:

My fertile land with good drainage and air circulation is suitable for ginger cultivation. Ginger cultivation is almost impossible in calcareous and bean-infested soils. A month and a half before planting, level the soil well and add 40 to 50 bags of compost. Plow the field 3-2 times Run and prepare the ground well with honey. Dung manure is very important in ginger cultivation without which the growth and production of plants is severely affected. Therefore, it is important to apply the said amount of fertilizer before planting.

Cultivation time:

Ginger can be grown from mid-March to late April.

Cultivation method:

Plant it in rectangular (4 to 6 m long and 2 to 3 m thick) beds made on flat ground. Keep line to line distance of 40 to 45 cm and plant to plant distance of 15 to 20 cm and press the seed 2 to 3 cm deep. In case of deep pressing, seed germination is affected which reduces the number of plants in the field and adversely affects the yield. ## Back cover:
Rooting is very important in ginger cultivation. Without it, ginger growth is severely affected. By rooting, on the one hand, the soil does not dry out quickly and on the other hand, the soil does not get wet and ginger grows well. Therefore, immediately after ginger cultivation, cover the soil with wood shavings, sugarcane husk, rice straw, phuk, dung, compost or grass. Wood shavings are best for rooting. Cover the ground evenly and leave no space without it. Lay a layer of straw and straw 2 to 3 cm and a layer of sawdust or straw 2 cm.

Irrigation:

Irrigate ginger first immediately after sowing and then at intervals of 7 days. Be careful not to let excess water stand in the field for too long as it dries out the ginger plants.

Disposal of goodies and herbs:

With the onset of the rainy season, make the first goodies in the crop and remove all the weeds. Then make 2 dolls in suitable witr and if possible add one ton per canal of manure compost. Ginger roots are very delicate so don't go deep.

Tolerance:

In the month of December, when the ginger leaves dry out and the twigs fall down, the crop is ready to bear. Take care of the crop with the help of a spade or a spade so that the arthritis is not injured. Injured arthritis deteriorates quickly in the store, which does not get a good price in the market. If you need to prepare seeds for the next crop, bear the crop in the last week of February. In the meantime, be careful not to let the water stand in the field for too long in case of rain. This can lead to rot in the soil. Otherwise, after the end of the harvest in the month of December, choose the best bales.
