Hope you all are doing good?? Today is another great day and we thank God for our lives. I am really glad to participate in this week's contest again. This community helps us keep in mind mother nature and value some things she offers us and the practices we perform to maintain her. So this week's contest is based on animal farming, Hence, my favorite animal and the things I do to improve their breeding.

Out of the many farm animals in nature one of my favorites is Poultry. Yes, maybe it's because they are easy to maintain and less aggressive that is why I tend to like them. One will ask, what is poultry??
Poultry has typically been perceived as the rearing of a brood of chickens. But Poultry in the actual sense encompasses more than that, poultry consists of all domestic birds that are reared by humans for what the standing offer like their eggs, meat, or features. I personally prefer the small animals such as chickens in terms of managing, but even the small animals also need to be well taken care of in other to breed well and good. So I will go ahead to share some light on some of the practices I use to improve their breeding.

Management practices to improve breeding.

1. Maintaining a clean environment and feeding a well balanced diet.
One important thing to know about poultry chickens is that they lay eggs more often when they find themselves in a comfortable environment. So am always sure to clean the room every day after they’ve done their messes. To also avoid a lot of hard work in the process I fill the room with sawdust so the chicken can walk around inside the room comfortable which also means that at the end when it is time to clean, instead of cleaning the ground floor, you just sweep the sawdust out and replace new it again. And also another important thing to do is to regulate the weather of the room to keep them warm and comfortable. Once this is established you will be able to fill buckets of eggs a day depending on how huge the farm is.

2. Vaccination.
Another major practice I indulge in is the vaccination of the animals. When it's getting to harmattan season these fouls tend to catch various diseases very often, and also sometimes it may be something they eat which will cause them to be sick and all. But one thing you can do to stop animals from even catching the disease in the first place is by vaccinating the animals before the harmattan season, and also you can do a time to time check on the fouls.

3. Brooder Management.
Like I said earlier these fouls tend to catch diseases from time to time, so sometimes I will have to observe them see the ones which exhibit any symptoms of anything at all and single them out to either treat them or use them for their meat before the disease totally takes over. The reason for this practice is that fouls have a very high rate of catching the disease from already infected fouls, which makes it dangerous to leave infected fouls among the flock.

Importance of poultry farming.

1. It provides human beings with food and protein from their meat and eggs to help keep us healthy.

2. Serves as a viable source of income when breeding for commercial purposes.

3. It is less intensive and much more cost-efficient in poultry farming than other animal farming.

Challenges.

One major challenge you will stand to face against poultry farming is weather changes and lack of electricity. The reason this is a problem is because just like I said earlier the weather changes come with the challenge of adaptability of animals to the weather which may cause some of them to fall sick amount other things. And the lack of electricity mwill ba a problem because without you stand no chance of being able to change the weather of the room among other things it could do.

Animal farming, in general, is a very important part of keeping the ecosystem in balance that is the more we use those animals the more we should try to replace them by helping them breed more. Thanks for reading through🙏.
