World biggest epic:Mahabharata-Character:Bhishma-Episode-01
There are very few epics in the world, such as Homer's Odyssey Elliott, Mahabharata, and Ramayana in Sanskrit in India. Apart from these, some other epics are also popular in different countries. Mahabharata is the biggest epic in the world. The beginning of this great epic dates back to the sad days of King Shantanu, the emperor of Hastinapur.
Usually, the characters are described and analyzed in the sequence of events. However, I want to highlight the Mahabharata through the description and analysis of the main characters of this epic, Devabrata.
Bhishma is a person with extraordinary determination. He gives up all his happiness and comfort for the happiness of his father. Kindness is truly an incomparable mentality. Bhishma's father Shantanu calls him Bhishma for making a solemn vow not to marry for the rest of his life. And the king donates that Bhishma will be entitled to death.
According to this great promise of Bhishma, the fisherman's daughter Satyavati marries King Shantanu. Festivals and rejoicing begin all over Hastinapur. Bhishma has been revered all over the world for ages as a great lover of the father.
Bhishma is an important character in the whole incident of Mahabharata. On the one hand, he is the best child who sacrifices everything for the happiness of his father, on the other hand, he is the best brother who protects his brother.
All his extraordinary qualities have come to light through different events. I will try to reveal Bhishma in a new way through different episodes. Today in the first episode I am trying to highlight only the initial aspect of his character.
King Shantanu happily ruled with Satyavati for some time. They had two sons. Chitrangada and Bichitrabirja.Chitrangoda was killed by Gandharva.So, Bichitrabirja became the king of Hastinapur. But he was physically very weak due to excessive drinking. So Bhishma had to handle everything in front of him. Because there was no hero like Bhishma in all of India at that time. Because he himself was the son of mother Ganga and the most beloved disciple of Lord Parshuram.
Her heroism and generosity were celebrated all over India. But great people have to do even momentary wrongs to protect their religion. According to the order of Queen Satyavati, Bhishma took all daughters of Kashi kingdom to happen marriage with Bichitrabirja. But a few days later he died. There is no one left to inherit the dynasty. Seeing the situation of wind in deep despair and failure of his promise, the powerful Bhishma is ready to end the whole world. He applied his Brahmastra and proceeded to finish the sun god.
Seeing the great danger of creation, the sun god himself appeared to Bhishma. He consoled Bhishma and told him the way out of this crisis.
