This is a Goddess Durga Idol from the famous Durga Puja festival in Kolkata, India. As per mythology, the buffalo-demon (Mahisasura) was killed by Goddess Durga as the demon had a blessing that he can't be killed by any male. Mahisasura conquered the heaven, started torturing the Gods as well as the human. Then Goddess Durga appeared. She has 10 hands, with weapons she received from Gods. She killed the demon after a long fight and worshipped by Gods and humans since then.

In this idol, Mahisasura is at the feet of Goddess Durga. Her four childrens (Kartikeya, the War God; Ganesha, the Business God; Laxmi, the Wealth Goddess and Saraswati, the Study Goddess) are also accompanying Goddess Durga.
