This isn't a tomato
Hi Steemians!
I'm paraphrasing the title of the famous Magritte painting "Ceci n'est pas une pipe", obviously (lol).
I painted this simple object to sharing with you some of the steps to achieve a realistic result.
I drew the basic shape on a gray neutral layer, directly on the screen.
The drawing is on a transparent layer, separated from the gray background layer.
Under the drawing, I paint with colors, each color on a different layer.
Here, I have blurred and mixed all the colors, adding some yellow touches I get volume. Note that I don't use black for the shadow, instead, I use a dark red color. For the lighter areas, I use yellow, not white.
,
Finally, for the highlights, I give some subtle touches of transparent white (50%, 30% 20%, or 10%) . At this stage, I have made the drawing on top invisible.
With gentle touches of yellow, very transparent I get the texture in the lightest parts of the tomato and I use red for the dark areas. I also do some imperfections to get a more realistic look.
Here a close-up.
To give a more pleasant visualization of the tomato I am going to add some elements such as a surface where the tomato sits, shadows, reflections on the wall, etc.
Hope you liked it and I also hope that my post has been useful to you.
I'm trying to give you more than just showing you my work.
Knowledge is sterile if it is not shared.
Have a very nice day!
