Hi guys,

It feels great to be able to partake in this lovely contest by the steem.sports community. The comtest looks to know about our favourite player or club. And I want to tell each and everyone here about my favorite African player which I will always appreciate.

For anyone looking to partake in this contest this is the
post link

Well as a kid there has always been one player I always looked up to in our national team; the black stars.
In the 2011 and 2012 years we had one of the best squads in the world as we had the chance of beating any team in the world to take the world Cup.
And in this squad was our most reliable and dedicated forward Asamoah Gyan.
He was not just a forward on the pitch but also a leader and also an inspiration on and off the pitch

Asamoah Gyan is currently a Ghanaian based footballer who was born on 22nd November 1985 in a Accra, a region in the west African part of Ghana.
Asamoah began his footballing career at a very young age as he was a duper talented player and as such was scouted very early.

I wouldn't say Asamoah Gyan was born poor but I wouldn't also say has born rich as his father did not have so much money but they were well to do.
Gyan actually attended school as he can speak the English language fluently without mistakes.

As we know even though players travel outside the country most of the time not most of them can speak very good English.
But with my player he actually went to school.

Gyan kicked off his footballing career with a popular club in my country Ghana known as Liberty Professionals.
The liberty Professionals is a team that plays in the Ghanaian Premier league.

When he started his footballing career with liberty he kicked of life at the club wonderfully, scoring a total of 10 goals in just 16 appearances for the club.

With this envious record he was immediately signed by Seria A club Udinese who spotted his brilliance early.

When they signed him they then gave him out on loan to another club in the Seria B known as Modera for two seasons; switching from the Ghanaian Premier league to the seria a was a big step up so he needed to grasp the pace and familiarity of the league before stepping up for the ultimate competition in the seria a.

Even though he had signed for Udinese, other clubs still had their eyes on him.
In the year 2006, a deal between the Russian club lokomotiv Moscow and udinese could not happen for the striker as udinese refused to sell the player in the last minutes of the deal.

The deal would have been massive not only for the player but also for other players in the country.

It was reported that this would have been the fourth highest transfer fee paid for a player in their league.
This would have shattered records for a Ghanaian player at that time.

His return to the seria a club was not as marvellous as his first 16 appearances for his parent club as he was only able to net 11 times in 38 appearances with the club.

I know this was not as extraordinary as with his Ghanaian club but this did not stop Rennes, a club in Paris from signing him.
When he was there his goal scoring form continued and he scored a 14 goals in the 2 seasons that he spent there.

After playing for the ligue 1 side for 2 seasons he then left for the Premier league side Sunderland.
This was a move that shattered records again as he was their most expensive player signed.
He played there for 2 seasons and scored 10 goals for the club.

After his time at Sunderland he was then signed by Al Ain, a club in UAE.
They play in their countries pro league and for me this move was a good move for him as his goal scoring prowess was regained when he joined them.

He played 27 matches at Al Ain and scored a whooping 24 goals for the club.

Currently he is back in Ghana playing in the country's premier league for the elite side Legon cities.
Life at Legon cities hasn't kick started for him at legon cities yet but I can see him performing wonders at the club in the near future.

He has played in a lot of clubs which I did not capture; to mention a few more are the North East United and
Aside from his football life I will also talk a bit about his personal life.

He has 3 children and is currently staying in Accra Ghana.

Gyan was not only concerned about football but also wanted to go in the field of boxing some time back but I think he did not go on with his plan.
He leaves in one of the most expensive and luxurious houses in the country and drives a fleet of cars too.

He even owns an airline with it being named baby jet, his popular nick name.
He doesn't just play football but is also a business man with a lot of money.

He has also been named the Ghanaian football of the year for 2 years; in the year 2010 and 2014.
In 2010 he was also names the African footballer of the year by BBC.

He has also been included in the CAF team of the year for 3 years.

He has a lot of honours but decided to mention a few.
He has also won the UAE Pro league 3 times at his stay with the club.
The UAE presidents cup and also the UAE super cup.

He has been an inspiration but unfortunately most Ghanaians only remember him for that one penalty miss against Uruguay in the world.

The team was doing so brilliantly in the world Cup and we had reached the semi-finals of the competition and was poised to go for the finals if we had won that game.
We could have had a fairy tale ending but God had a different plan for us when Asamoah Gyan could only smash his penalty against the cross bar.

It was a heart breaking moment for us Ghanaians and sadly most Ghanaians have refused to come back from that night.
But aside this he is a a great athlete and will forever be a legend who has done a lot for our country.

I will like to invite @chenty, @jimah1k and @arahman to come take a look at this contest.

Again this has been a wonderful contest and I hope my participation will be considered.
