My favorite African player is no other than Samuel Eto'o Fils who was born 10 March 1981. He is a retired Cameroonian player and was a striker. When Eto'o performing very well, he was regarded by commentators as one of the best strikers in the world. he is regarded as one of the greatest African players of all time, and his achievements prove it because won the African Player of the Year three consecutive time and also in 2010.

Samuel Eto'o as a talented player moved to Real Madrid at the age of 16 years. In Real Madrid, he was not able to have playing time due to competition in his position with more experienced players, he had several loan spells, before having the opportunity to sign for Mallorca in 2000 where he scored 70 goals. His wonderful form made Barcelona signed him in 2004 and during his 5 seasons in Barcelona, he scored 130 goals in 5 season. Samuel Eto's became the record holder for the most appearances by an African player in La Liga.

He won La Liga 3 times, he was one of the major forward of Barcelona, alongside Ronaldinho, that help Barcelona won the 2006 UEFA Champions League Final. Samuel Eto'o scored a goal which contributed to the 2-1 victory against Arsenal in the 2006 UEFA Champions League final and he was part of a 3 forward aloneside Lionel Messi and Thierry Henry that won the 2009 UEFA final. Samuel Eto's is the second player in history Champions League to score in two UEFA Champions League finals. At Barcelona, he had a wonderful experience where he came third for the FIFA World Player of the Year in 2005 and he was also nominated in 2015 and 2016 FIFA FIFPro World XI.

Samuel Eto's also pressed further to signed with Inter Milan for the 2009-10 season, where he became the first player to win two European continental trebles following his back-to-back achievements with Barcelona and Inter. Eto's became the 4th player to have won the Champions League trophy in a row with two different teams. After having an impressive performance in Anzhi Makhachkala, Chelsea, Everton, and Sampdoria, when you might think it is over, Samuel Eto'o found impressive form again in the league with Antalyaspor scoring 44 goals in 76 league games. In 2015, he became the highest goal scorer in the Super Lig which made him received the Golden Foot Award.

Samuel Eto's been one of the members of the Cameroon national team, he was a part of the team that won the Gold Medal at the 2000 Olympics. Not only that, but he also won the Africa Cup of Nations in 2000 and 2002. Eto'o has played in 4 World Cups and 6 Africa Cup of Nations. Eto's is the all-time highest goal scorer in the history of the Africa Cup of Nations, with 18 goals, and is Cameroon's all-time highest goal scorer and 3rd most capped player, with 56 goals in 118 caps. After Samuel Eto'o impressive performance in the national team, he declared his retirement from international football in August 2014.
