En el área deportiva es muy común ver a los campeones con sus trofeos, medallas, celebrando con sus equipos, familia, siendo la atracción de las cámaras y periodistas que quieren tener la exclusiva de ese gran momento que resalta el valor del atleta de acuerdo a su logro. Sin embargo, hay un detalle que muchas personas no ven más allá de la sonrisa, la salud mental del atleta.

In the sports area it is very common to see champions with their trophies, medals, celebrating with their teams, family, being the attraction of the cameras and journalists who want to have the exclusive of that great moment that highlights the value of the athlete according to his achievement. However, there is a detail that many people do not see beyond the smile, the mental health of the athlete.

Desde hace años, tenemos varios casos que han sido famosos porque atletas destacados han sido victimarios en ellos. Puedo mencionar a O.J Simpson por el asesinato de su ex esposa y amigo, aunque fue absuelto, luego fue condenado a 9 años por robo y secuestro.

Puedo destacar 2 casos que llamaron mucho mi atención, fueron atletas que no soportaron la estadía en la cárcel y decidieron suicidarse. El boxeador venezolano Edwin Valero asesinó a su esposa y 2 días después terminó con su vida.

Son años que me han dejado como aprendizaje que el deporte puede generar muchas cosas positivas en la vida, pero no necesariamente eres feliz a plenitud y cuando el caos llega y sacude a los atletas, la paz mental y emocional pasan desapercibida, la ira, odio y frustración toman ventaja a los que alguna vez pisaron la cima, bastaba un instante para convertirlos en villanos de la pesadilla de alguien más, generaron su propio destino cruel y sin salida.

These years have taught me that sport can generate many positive things in life, but you are not necessarily happy to the fullest and when chaos comes and shakes you, mental and emotional peace goes unnoticed, anger, hatred and frustration take advantage of those who once stepped on the top, a moment was enough to turn them into villains of someone else's nightmare, they generated their own cruel fate with no way out.
