Hello everyone,
Thanks to @steem.sports for this amazing contest, it’s good to have memories of interesting things in the past and moments that can never be forgotten. and as football fans we all enjoy the world and we w have our favorite World Cup campaign that we enjoyed so much, for me it’s the 2010 World Cup.

The 2010 World Cup was the 19th since the initiation of the tournament , which took place in South Africa from the 11th of June to the 11th of July in a space of the 30 days with 32 participants. The Opening fixture was between the hosts (South Africa) and Mexico which was worth an opening for a very exciting contest . Siphiwe Tsgabalala opened the scoring on the 55 minute with a very stunning goal and the crowd went crazy I can still remember the commentary from Peter Drury :” Goooooaaal Bafana Bafana , Goal for South Africa, Goal for all Africa, Jabunila Rejoices..” and all the vuvuzelas went wild , the opener was an enthralling one which ended in a 1-1 draw.

Spain 🇪🇸 won their first World Cup tittle that year , with Netherlands 🇳🇱 , 🇩🇪 , and Uruguay 🇺🇾 The first second and third runner ups respectively. Diego Forlan a Uruguayan international got the Best player of the tournament , of course the first man to understand the language of Jabulani ( the Ball used for that tournament).
The tournament had 4 top scorers each scoring 5 goals ; Diego Forlán , David Villa, Wesley Sneijder and Thomas Müller. The Spanish goalkeeper Iker Casillas got the best goal keeper with so many outstanding saves it was much deserved.

Andre Iniesta scored the only goal for Spain 🇪🇸 in the final against Netherlands to win the the World cup at extra time.

As a Ghanaian , the 2010 world has to be what I chose as my favorite , because of the performance this country displayed in that World Cup under Milovan Rajevac , the farthest we’ve ever gone in the World Cup .
Ghana was placed in group D along with ; Serbia 🇷🇸, Australia and Germany. We won our first match against Serbia by 1 -0 (A. Gyan 84’ (P) ), the second game was against Australia which ended in a 1-1 draw (A.Gyan 25’(P) )and our final game in the group was against Germany which we lost by a goal to nil (M. Ozil 60’) Ghana proceeded to the Round of 16 which we faced The United States of America 🇺🇸 which we won by 2 goals to 1 (K.Boateng 5’ , L. Donovan 62’ (P) , A. Gyan 93’ ET) . Ghana proceeded to the quarter finals against Uruguay 🇺🇾 , this was the game that tore the hearts of every Ghanaian on the 45th minute, Sule Ali Muntari scored a rocket goal from so many yards out , Diego Forlan scored an equalizer from a set piece at the 55th minute, the game proceeded to extra time, in the final minutes of the match S. Applause headed a ball past the Uruguayan goalkeeper but Suarez uses his hands to push out the ball and save the goal so Ghana was awarded a penalty and L.Suarez was given a red card. A. Gyan wasn’t able to convert the penalty as he hit the woodwork and the referee whistles for the end of extra time and the game went to penalties. Ghana lost 4-2 on penalties leaving no African country in the tournament.
