The name of my University is Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike, (MOUAU)
It is a Federal institution that is located in Umudike in Abia State, South East Region of Nigeria.
The institution was put in place as a premium University by the Nigeria Federal Government Decree No. 48 of November 1992.

The institution formerly commenced it’s activities in the month of May 1993, following the selection of Professor Placid C. Njoku as the first council and vice Chancellor on the 27th may, 1993. Then appointment of other key officials followed suit.

UNIVERSITY LOCATION AND GEOGRAPHY

The school is sited in the Agricultural Training & Research city of Umudike , which is about 10 kilometers from Umuahia the capital city of Abia State.
The major link route to the University is the Federal road, Umuahia-Ikot Ekpene and a direct route to the Abia state capital, Cross River and Aqua Ibom States. Because it is close to Umuahia, the University is connected via a major North-South Express Route to most part of the country.
It started its activities on the environment of the former Federal College of Agriculture, Umudike. which was later taken to Ishiagu, in Ivo Local Government Area of Ebonyi State and still maintains the name, Federal College of Agriculture, Ishiagu.

WHY I CHOSE MY SCHOOL.
My ability to choice Michael Okpara University of Agriculture was not out of a mere decision but rather, was born out of passion.
Coming up as a teenager who was in the stage of writing his Senior Secondary Certificate Examination ( SSCE), I was deep in thought, in a total state of dilemma trying to figure out or make decision on a befitting course to study in higher institution as a science student.
My pondering was between medicine and civil engineering which was almost everybody’s desire except that it had become more competitive, hence, has large number of graduates left unemployed as a result of the crowd in the both fields.
Having this in mind was just a good reason to make another choice, but do you think it is easy? Not until when my older aunt made a suggestion of a newly introduced course (Fisheries Technology) which is an Agricultural course but was literally chasing people away because of the “fish” in its name. I quickly subscribed to the idea. Hence, I registered it in my first institution which was just a college of agriculture.
My study in the college brought me close to the nature, this made me to develop a great passion for the course.
Hence, after acquiring my diploma in the college there was a need to further my education in pursuit of university degree and that will be through direct entry with my diploma result. So for me to get the best out of this my course in the university level, I have to sort for an institution that is rooted in Agriculture, guess that’s where the school, Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike captured my fancy. This was the reason I chose the school and I’m not regretting.

WHY MY SCHOOL IS THE BEST
Nobody has ever complained that the food prepared by the mother is not sweet. The taste of the food is not only of the food but by the quality of the mother who prepared it.
There are several reasons I consider my school as the best.
Michael Okpara University of Agriculture Umudike is a Federal owned university and as a result, major aspect of the tuition fees are taken care of by the Federal government hence, making it possible for an average citizen to afford education.
The university is ranked among the premium universities in Nigeria. It has a well arranged program by which her students are motivated to study hard, for example, any students that graduates with a first class honor has two choices to make, either you are been sponsored to continue your study abroad or you are given automatic employment to work in the university.

The university library is a well arranged building housing enormous aid to learning materials ranging from audio, audio visual, textbooks, etc. It is a very conducive environment for studying and research.

Unlike other universities in Nigeria that do have the almost everyday ugly experience of cult clash, indecent dressing, rape, arm robbery, examination malpractice, etc, MOUAU has ever remained the most peaceful institution any one would want to or send your children to study.

In addition, the staff has always been in their best behavior, ensuring that they deliver their duty appropriately and at when due maintaining good staff to students relationship. No sexual gratification, bribery for grade etc.

I must not fail to appreciate this community for coming up with this wonderful topic.
It exposed me to discovering things I did not really know about my school.
