Practical on how to crimp a straight-through network cable||50% Beneficiary to campusconnect

Hello everyone, how are you all doing?
I welcome you all to my little tutorial on how to crimp a network cable, I believe some of us will be able to learn something from it.

Steps on how to crimp a network cable

A network cable is a cable that is used to connect our computer to a switch or a router to have access to the internet, we have different types of ethernet cable but the one I will be showing us is a straight-through cable and the use of this type of cable is to connect our computer to a network adapter like the router or the switch to gain access to the network.

To crimp a straight-through cable, the first thing you do is to get all your tools for the job down, the tools I will be used to crimping the cable are;

  • The LAN cable we want to crimp
  • The crimping tool
  • The Lan tester
  • RJ45

The above image shows the tools I used in crimping the cable.

After getting all my tools organized, then I decided to cut the outer shell of the cable out so that I can straighten the LAN wire for crimping. After cutting out the outer shell you will find out that the LAN wire is twisted in two in one and they are separated into four parts.

The image above shows the separate layers of the LAN wires.
After opening the LAN cable the next thing you do is to separate all the wires from each other and make sure they are equal to each other, for you to have them equal you can use the crimping tool to cut it after you've straightened the wires.

The image above shows all the 8 wires arranged before cutting them equally
The 8 wires have different color combinations which are;

  • Brown
  • White Brown
  • Green
  • White Green
  • Blue
  • White Blue
  • Orange
  • White Orange

After cutting the wires to be equal the next thing we do is set the wire into the RJ45, if you are turning the RJ45 upside down before putting the wires then you have to change the color combinations of the wire, and to change that is very simple, all you have to do is to start your combination from white orange up to brown, that means you start from down to up the way I listed it above.

After you put the wires into the RJ45, you make sure they reached the end and align with each other.

The Image above shows that the LAN wires reached the top
After that then you use the crimping tool to press them together so that they will not remove and they will be clicked together

The image above shows me pressing the crimping tool against the RJ45
The crimping tool has a special space that is used for clipping the wires and RJ45 together, when you use it you will be able to easily press them on each other.
After you are done with the first face, you then follow the same procedure to crimp the second face, when you are done with that, you then use the LAN tester to check if you crimp the cable correctly and to know that, the LAN tester will blink from 1 to 8 in two places.

The above image shows that LAN cable should work parfectly

Conclusion

From what we've said so far, we can see how easy it is to crimp a LAN cable as far as you have the right tools to use for work, I believe almost everybody makes use of the internet daily, some of us use the LAN cable to browse and some times we find out that our LAN cable is no more functioning, that doesn't mean that we should discard it and get another one, because the issue might be because one of the wires have been bridged so all you have to do is to cut off the RJ45 then you get a new RJ45 for another crimping. Thank you
