Diary Game – 13 April 2022: Completed My Assignment on Creative Writing in Preparation For School's Resumption

Hello, Campus Connect community,

It's been a while. In less than 12 days, Nigerian Federal Universities should be resuming lectures and every other academic activities. With this awareness, I woke up energetic and fully ready to complete as much school work I have left as possible before the commencement of the usual hectic days.

On my to-do list, I planned to complete an assignment given before the break in the course ENG321 : Creative Writing. The topic was to write on our first kiss. I guess this holiday gave me a whole lot of time to ideate. This is what I could come up with.

MY FIRST KISS

I had a crush on a guy some time ago. He was everything a woman abi girl will want. Light skinned, tall, muscular with big biceps and what we now know as six-packs. Moa, like every other woman, couldn't resist this HANDSOME dude whose 4C hair type, cologne and nerdy glasses made him stand out in every crowd. I don't see why any female wouldn't crush on this guy with a perfect chiselled jaw. If these are not enough to turn your head, then his aristocratic Don Jazzy voice when speaking the fourth variety of Nigerian English will do.

I dreamt of how I will raven those soft pliable anatomical structures that formed his mouth every night. Oh yes, I yearned to kiss his lips, tangle my tongue in his until...never mind. And that fateful day came.

I was sitting on my own o when I caught a glimpse of him standing in a group as usual. This was at my cousin's birthday party and he was one of the guests. I saw the host give him a snack which he munched on like one ajebutter pikin. That wasn't my concern anyway but I didn't like the sensual smile he returned to her. I mean... I was here and I am a lady and more.

Just then, it seemed as if cupid had whispered some sense into him and he turned swiftly to look in my direction. Omo... his eyes met mine and...

Eh eh
I composed naw. Swallowing hard as he walked briskly towards me, I swear I almost hiccupped. My legs had already gone jelly and whatever snapped inside me made my tummy feel somehow. In split seconds, my prince charming was right beside me and somehow my legs had found a way to stand. They stood above the ground and wrapped tight around his thick waist. I could feel his strong arms supporting my butt. The look on his hazel eyes made my nine-year-old heart palpitate. I lost track of time and my environment when he smiled. The people that filled the room to its brim didn't matter at that moment.

That's how I met him halfway with my eyes tight close, face turned up and head tilting slightly to the left. My breath became even now. Slow and steady.

Like the marriage of fuel and fire, Paah! Our passion erupted the very moment our skins came in contact with each other. I kissed him so hard that his pink lower lips bled. And just when I was about to pour in the last spit of saliva into his mouth, a voice interrupted.

"Ukpono, will you drop that phone and wash those plate nke udungo yak ayed toño ubakusen."

The thundering voice of my mom couldn't even wait until my 25-year-old crush proposed to my cousin—the host — before waking me from my daydream. I couldn't complete the video of the birthday/engagement party because aunty Itoro got her phone from me. Now my prince is gone because he had chosen her over me. I went to carry out my task anyway with my lusty heart broken into tiny unrecognizable pieces. What a lopsided life!
