Every area of the world, including education, has been transformed by computers and the internet. Using online media such as Zoom, Google Meet, Twitter, Youtube, and others, billions of people from all over the world may share ideas in a matter of seconds for very little money. Virtual Learning is a manifestation of this shift in the academic industry.

Virtual learning has been there since the dawn of the internet, but with the epidemic and worldwide lockdowns, virtual engagement became explosive and was absorbed into every aspect of society, including academia. Virtual learning became the only way to keep the academic sector afloat as school moved online.

What is the definition of virtual learning? Virtual learning is meant to be a supplement to traditional classroom learning. It is a type of learning that is enhanced by the use of a computer or the internet, either within or outside of educational institutions. Both the teachers and the students are separated by distance in terms of place, time, or both when they learn online.

Virtual learning can take numerous forms like:

  • Internet-Based Virtual Learning:
  • Computer-Based Virtual Learning
  • Remote Teacher Online

Will virtual learning shape education and Learning the way we know it?

Virtual learning became a way to keep education going after corona virus pandemic and it is not a replacement for actual classroom learning, but rather an augmentation and extension of the educational experience. What will be the impact of virtual learning on education and learning?

  • virtual learning environment allows students to participate in classes at their own speed and on their own time. They have the ability to study at their own speed. Students will feel more comfortable and calm when there is little or no pressure, which is common in physical classroom learning. It is easier to learn in such circumstances.
  • Virtual learning is particularly inclusive, especially for students with impairments, as it allows them to access lessons that would otherwise be unavailable in a real setting.
  • virtual education Students have access to a wealth of educational tools that enhance their learning experience; unlike physical learning, they are not bound to specific textbooks or materials.
  • Virtual Learning is cost-effective, which is a significant advantage of it. Because videoconferencing does not require a physical classroom, students who live off campus can take classes from the comfort of their own homes, saving money on commuting. Data costs for video conferencing are very low and are not included in school fees. If students pay this, the cost will be kept to a bare minimum.
  • Through the comprehension and operation of the latest digital apps required for virtual learning, such as Zoom and Google Meet, both teachers and students can increase their technical abilities.
  • It also facilitates teaching by allowing teachers to provide immediate feedback to students and make required modifications. It also facilitates the delivery and marking of online quizzes.

Do you think your university will incorporate virtual learning into its curriculum?/ State the reason for the answer

Because of the three-month strike, most departments in my school have begun to implement virtual learning into their school curriculum, although they continue to face problems such as:

  • Inadequate Internet Access
  • Distraction and Truancy
  • Overcrowding in several departments
  • Inadequate Power Supply

Do you think such a move will be plausible/

Virtual Learning is a viable option, but only on a small scale. To accomplish this, instructors and students must be trained on how virtual classes work. This is critical in order to avoid disarray. A schedule for when and how virtual classes should be held must be created. The technological equipment and instruments that enable a good internet connection should be installed.

virtual Learning is not a replacement to physical learning but an extension of educational experience. In most public Institutions in Nigeria virtual learning will be achieved if the right facilities and organization are put in place this will prevent the lecturers nd students from being overwhelmed.

Have you had any experience with virtual learning, if yes kindly indicate when and how

Yes, Virtual learning is something I've done series of time which were extremely fascinating but awful.

In conclusion virtual Learning is not a replacement to physical learning but an extension of educational experience. In most public Institutions in Nigeria virtual learning will be achieved if the right facilities and organization are put in place this will prevent the lecturers nd students from being overwhelmed.

You have written something about accessiblity and this is very true. Virtual learning is inclusive which means that no one will be left out due to an impairment. AR technology is there to help out.
