RE: Campus Connect Engagement League week 1- Effects of Asuu strike on students in Nigeria
I am currently enrolled as a medical student at the University of Nigeria Enugu Campus. The fact is, there is both encouraging and truly horrifying news. Fortunately, I'm a finalist, and I'm finished with all of my clinical placements after a six-year program that will soon be extended to eight years at my university. Every posting was accompanied by a long-term preparation that lasted more than seven years, rather than the six years that should have been accompanied by a licensed staff and office, but we burned through those years to complete every posting just to be hit with a strike...
The unfortunate news about strike is that our academic activities have been postponed till further notice due to the ongoing school strike. At the point when the news came few days ago , a significant number of my mates cried. We had trusted that they would think about our situation and lead the tests in different emergency clinics yet they had made what we named " the mean decision". A large portion of us have become indifferent with regards to numerous things, the enthusiasm that we once had has blurred into unimportance.
They have gashed our feelings. A few of us are so confounded at this point. Our rents are terminating, our folks are concerned and prepare to have your mind blown. Nobody has come to address us. Everyone grumbles of the falling moral and information standard of specialists yet take a gander at the manner in which we are prepared; a preparation that makes us free our psyches. Assuming that we become odd sort of specialists, who have lost all sympathy and feelings, who will fault us? Lord have mercy on us..It's truly wretched when I think about it, that this is occurring right now. This is the very University that went on a multi month strike from 2019 dow to the tight craw of corona which leads to sitting at home for many months.
That is beside the few months strike it happened years ago.. That is simply counting the new ones gracious. How would you anticipate that the energy of the understudies should continue as before.
The set going to 400 level can't begin clinicals in light of the fact that there is no space in clinics, so they need to sit tight for the last year folks to leave prior to beginning. They've been at home for months now.
I wonder when the training area in Nigeria will move along with other country education system. I hope something is done with regards to it
What the federal government and the union should do is for both party to keep to their word But until that happens lets wait on the lord for his mercy... #campusconnectengagement
This is currently one of the most distressing and pressing challenges I have right now. Prior to the whole strike saga, our landlord had increased our rent and I was willing to retain my accommodation in the building until I can't even stay in a room I paid for.
Most of my lodge mates have active rent rents which will expire in a few months' time, I am not sure the landlord will say anything or discount the amount they pay on their next rent.
It's just so sad.

You took the words right out of my mouth. My rent is expiring on November. I would have to pay another one again and it definitely isn't cheap
May Lord have mercy.....
