The term feminism is the act of bringing the affairs of women into light, their pains, most desires, joy, how they love, and indeed their world. A feminist is someone especially a woman who indulges in this act and this can be seen in most African countries.

ORIGIN OF FEMINISM IN AFRICA

Feminism originated as a result of male dominance in Africa. In most African countries, women are seen as nonentities, like rags, football, a takeaway foil that you only make use of when you need them. Women are regarded as what u called detriment beings, they are only needed for reproduction, for men’s pleasure, and working machines.

In a normal African home, the wife if a working-class, needs to wake up on time in the morning preparing the children’s lesson food, boil water for the children, make breakfast, and most time, make sure she drops the kids at school and the husband will be like “I don’t eat overnight food” she might have to cook three times a day.

In Africa, an 18 years old girl Is forced into marriage most times, an old man enough to be her father or even her grandfather and her mother has no say on it no. It is only in Africa that a man will order his wife to be a housewife and then expect her the cook even when he doesn’t bring money for food.

So far we have heard of women who in one way or the other tried to fight against this oppression of women. Women like; Amma Darko of Ghana, Buchi Emecheta of Nigeria, Nawal El sadawi of Egypt etc.

These women mentioned above have tried their best in bringing this cankerworm to light with their works. We are hoping for a better place for women in Africa. When a woman’s opinion is taken and considered, where her beauty is not taken for granted.
A place where her gentility is not taken as stupidity, where her dignity is kept and preserved like a treasure. A place where her weaknesses are not taken advantage of.
