INTRODUCTION

Pallor can be defined as the paleness or discoloration of the skin or mucous membrane indicating anemia or severe loss of blood.

CAUSES OF PALLOR

There are certain medical conditions that can cause pallor. They may include;

• Impairment of the circulatory system.
• Circulatory shock.
• Hypoglycemia
• Infection
• Cancer
• Anemia due to blood shunting away from the skin and mucous membrane.

SIGNS AND SYMPTHOMS OF PALLOR

• Loss of awareness
• Reduced blood pressure
• Chest pain
• Frenzied heart rate
• Paleness of skin

HOW TO CHECK FOR PALLOR

• Checking for paleness in skin and palm.

PALLOR GRADING

Grade	Clinical presentation
Mild	Pallor of conjuctiva and mocous membrane
Modrate	Pallor of conjuctiva, mocous membrane and skin
Severe	Pallor of conjuctiva, mucous membrane, skin and palmar pallor

TREATMENT OF PALLOR

• Taking balance diet
• Consuming iron, vitamin B12 or forlate supplement
• In severe cases, surgery is suggested.
