How to Survive on Campus

Introduction:

Hey guys, my name is Hope Olileanya Ukoha with the username @peggybaby , its really a privilege to share some thoughts with you on how to survive on campus.

This will be based on my personal experience .

you see, campus life can be very frustrating ,but thinking outside the box and stepping out of your comfort zone can cause you to enjoy campus life amidst all its overwhelming challenges .

i trust this story will motivate you beyond inspiration to employ meaningful strategies that will cause to soar financially even as a student.

MY STORY.

i got admision into the university of Calabar Nigeria to study Applied chemistry in the year 2016. because i already had my diploma few years back , i had to pass through direct entry and automatically started from 2nd year.

it was really an exciting moment for me, as that has been my dream , to further my education.
i resumed in january 2017, then i kicked off with my studies.

The first few months were not too tough for me financially because i worked for a while before deciding to return back to school, so i was still financially buoyant at the time.

Towards the middle of that year, at the end of my first semester precisely, i started experiencing some financial hitch. Although my mum was sending me some money as she could but honestly , it wasnt enough at all.
At a point i became very scared of what would happen next it the money she sent to me finished.

There days i drink garri without sugar, i mean for several days. there days i didn't have money to buy ordinary sachet water. one time i had to ask my neighbour that sells borne hole water to allow me fetch a pocket of water for free, so i could be drinking it. since i hadnt no money to buy pure water or sachet water.

Then in Sept, a friend of mine introduced me to someone that deals on wears and shoes, it was more like a marketing work. i would carry the goods to lecturers offices, my neighbours and hospitals. i was able to make some sales but after a while the the owner of the business relocated to Lagos. so that ends that business.

Then one day i sat down and begin to think of what i should be doing to start generating fund to support myself with the little my mum was giving to me.
so i came up with something, i said will start doing daily contribution , also known as osusu or akawo.
first off i needed to come out of that financial mess, hence i swallowed my pride and took it up.
By November of that year my cards , my long note , biro and ruler were ready, since it was a business that starts early january. i made sure that all my working tools were ready before i traveled for chrismas that year.

On 4th January 2018, i came back to calabar, then hit the road to look for customers before lectures begins.
it wasn't easy at first , people were very skeptical because it has to do with money. i kept praying to God for favour and open doors. within two weeks i got 11 customers, . i kept been consistent cause if they see you very often , it will clear every doubt they have about you. within a few month my customer base increased, i even had to drop some customers especially the ones a bit far from me.

When school eventually started, i had to reschedule on how to go about my business. before the resumption, i usually go by 12noon but when school resumed , i decided to be going after school. if it were days i had evening lectures, i usually go for my business before the evening lecture starts.

Through that business i was able to raise 300k of my own , since i was also giving loan to people at the interest rate of 20%.
some time i make like 80k profit for just giving a loan to a client.

in 2019, i stopped the daily contribution and concentrated on loan business since it paid better and its stress free.
i made the loan business look official and professional, i printed a loan form with my company name on it, printed a Guarantor form. i listed out the requirement for loan collection, with terms and condition apply.
this helped me to always recover my loan and the interest.

you too can think of what to do to become finacially independent as a student.

i hope this helps;
my profound gratitude goes to @focusnow and @whitestallion for their mentorship .

Thank you for stopping by.
