My Experience On Campus As A New Student In My University | Campus connect engagement contest week 3 by @oguzvic

Hello campus connect community. I'm glad to be participating in this wonderful contest about my experience on campus as a new student.

What was the atmosphere like?

I'm a student of University of Nigeria, Nsukka. I was filled with uncertainty as a new student in campus back then. It was a totally new and different part of my life. All my life, I had lived with my parents. Now, I was going to live life on my own, very far away from home.

My dad accompanied me in my journey to campus. When I got into the campus, I was amazed at how big and beautiful it looked. The network of roads looked so complicated.

That day was very stressful as I had to do hostel clearance because I wasn't allowed to go into the hostel initially. Eventually I got into the hostel, located my room and met my roommates. They really helped me settle in.

It was a really busy and fun atmosphere in campus that day. There were students everywhere, doing different things. Many students were also trying to do their hostel clearance, some were trying to print out one document or another. I explored the various eating spots I could find and chose one where I had a good meal.

I had difficulty locating my lecture halls in my first week. I went late for lectures as a result. It was also stressful walking from one lecture hall to another back then, as the lecture halls were far from each other.

Who were some of the people that you met during your first week in school ?

One of first persons I met was my course mate and now my best friend, Somto. I met him in his room when I escorted my roommate there.

I got to know we were in the same department and from there we got talking.
We did literally everything together from then. We went to lectures together, and I spent most times in his room.

Someone else I met significant to mention was my class rep, Stanley back then. I was a newbie who was totally clueless and confused about a lot of things. I met him and he put me through on a lot of things. He even showed me around. He is a very nice person.

Did you guys turn out to be greater friends in School?

Like I mentioned before, I went on to become best friends with Somto till this moment. We've been through a lot together. We have helped each other so much, and we have become more like family.

I also became really good friends with Stanley. He has been amazing over the years and I'm glad we got to know each other.

Conclusion

I was uncertain and anxious about how I would cope in school on my own since it was my first time. Eventually, I got to love life in campus on my and I met a lot if amazing people. It has been exciting and there have been a lot to explore.
