Oasis in deserts

There are lots of deserts across the world and we know them as a large areas where there is sand and dust.

An oasis is a body of water or a very fertile place found in the desert. Around an oasis grasses, trees, settlements, and cactus can be found.

What really brings about this phenomenon? There is a very straightforward answer to this question. Precipitation involves the downward movement of ice blocks, snow, dew, fog, and rain from the clouds. They all do not happen at the same time- it depends on the climatic condition of the particular area. There are dry places, there are humid places, it all depends.

When precipitation occurs in any of the forms listed above, there is a process known as infiltration that takes place. This happens immediately after precipitation and it involves the gradual downward movement of water into the soil until it gets deep to the point where percolation takes place. Percolation involves the movement of water in a slope below the soil usually known as aquifers. Water gets stored in the aquifer up to a point where it gets filled up.

Due to land formation, there are low areas and high areas, and the formation of oases usually happens in areas of low lands. In effect, I am saying that the water from the aquifers overflows and thus comes to the lowest point of soil in the desert. The water table is usually level, but sand above the ground determines where an oasis is formed.
