Hello , welcome to my blog , I really appreciate campusconnect for this contest for giving us the opportunity to take about the challenges we all face as a student

Before I proceed , who is a student

A student is one who is formally engaged in learning or offering courses in an institution.
On the journey of being a student there are some challenges we face . I don't think one can escape it, one way on the other there are challenges you will face .
So right away I will be talking about few of my challenges and also challenges students faces in campus.

I'm a student of Ahmadu Bello University , studying Microbiology. Presently, I'm in my 300l. I was admitted through direct entry , so this will be my second year in the university.

• When I was admitted, it feels like I've started a new life, everything looks strange to me, seeing new faces,trying to makes friends, adapting to a new lifestyle and so on. I remembered when I had my first lecture. I was totally lost. I couldn't find myself, I mean the population of the student in the hall was much, some standing, some sitting on the floor, I was so irritated, I couldn't hear what the lecturer was saying, everywhere was overcrowded, I was even expecting the lecture to control the class but I was wrong. I was wondering what I will gain, coming to class, spending hours in class and still not gaining anything. I was so pissed.
• Now to where I lay my head. I stay in the school hostel. I thought it's going to be a comfortable place for me to stay and also study. My life in the hostel was a bit terrible. After having a long day in class and you feel so exhausted, thinking immediately you enter into your hostel, you will have a nap but no it wasn't so. I stay in a room of 8, there's alway noise , so can't sleep even when you try to sleep , trust me you will wake up with headache, this actually makes me sick everyday, but I couldn't help than to take paracetamol almost everyday which I know it's very dangerous to take everyday.

• Unavailability of water supply in the school hostel, I remembered a time I was take lecture at a hall(NELT) during lectures I saw some guys coming out with boxers and singlet to hustle for water to have their bath, it wasn't funny , their was distraction in class as some people were murmuring, some was laughing, I actually did laugh because it's funny and not funny, I know you get what I mean.

• Financial needs, this affect many student, sometimes I starve myself when I don't have enough foodstuffs, as a student, managing as become our lifestyle, not only that we go to class and the lecturer will bring out a handout we all must buy in order to record our test,even if you don't have the money you will look for a way to get it because you won't want to fail, some lecturer ain't considerate , they don't mind in some will have the amount or not, what they want to see is the money .

• Keeping up to time, most time I wake up so early to attend lectures, and it's a must because in my department, your presence counts, attendace so much compulsory to be qualified to write test or exam, even assignment given , it will only be done by those who attend the lecture, so I do attend so as to have a better result .

• Depression, yes sometimes I feel depressed,sad,angry,moody, uncomfortable, sometimes I feel the ground should just swallow me up. I'm talking about my course, sometimes I read so hard , spend many hours in the library, just to understand that particular course and sometimes I feel I haven't read anything . In my first year in school, I remembered depression almost wanted to take me , as a direct entry student I offered 14courses , some course had 3cu, while some had 2cu. And one annoying and frustrating thing about my course is any little mistake, you will fail, where you are to underline and you did not , you will surely fail and so on, there is nothing like mercy and this is one of the reason many students fail in my department. But I came to realize sometimes reading on your own without the help of some of your colleagues that knows better it's a waste of time , I mean sometimes , so interaction while reading actually helped me in some of my courses

• Robbery and theft I remembered when I newly got to my hostel , I was with 5k cash with me , I woke up and couldn't find the money, that was the only cash I had with me , while staying in hostel , one have to be very vigilant, even your provision sometimes it is not save.

Students face so many challenges , I only mentioned few and I believe we all come out strong
