STRIKING IS NOT THE SOLUTION: A PERSONAL OPINION

It is no news to all of us that the Academic Staff Union of Universities (ASUU) has decided to embark on a one month warning strike in order for thier demands to be met. Failure of that will result in an indefinite strike. This Charade has been going on for years now and it has proven to be ineffective. It has been proven to cause more harm than good to the students of these varsities. Apart from the sudden and deep disruption of academic acti.vities, it extends the expected time of graduation of our students.
I believe we all have thought of other line of actions ASUU should consider other than striking. Personally I feel ASUU know how powerful they are and decide to misuse it for thier own personal and selfish reasons. Don't get me wrong, I do believe they are fighting for the survival of our universities but striking isn't the solution to be very honest.
MY OPINION
Personally I believe that the solution to all these shenanigans is that The Federal Government should sell out all these varsities to private individuals.By doing this, the services of the so called Union, ASUU, won't be needed anymore because all affairs are now ran by a private individual. Salaries and other basic amenities will be provided on time and maximum services will be provided by the lecturers unlike now when a lecturer might just show up once or twice throughout a semester. This i believe would solve the issue of striking and rebuild our education system to what it once was.
CONCLUSION
Just Having Leaders is totally different from having Leaders who know what they are doing and why they are there in the First place. Our leaders lack vision. But we hope and pray that they realize where they've gone wrong and ammend things while they still can. Our education system isn't what it used to be. A quick and effective line of action should be applied and fast to put all these ASUU strike to an end.
