I know the word comrade might sound funny to most of us because it has been the center of this meme joke that has gone viral on social media for a while now, but to those involved in school politics, the word comrade comes with all seriousness and to some great length, respect as well.

Being a successful comrade isn't a day job. It takes hardwork, dedication and persistence, amongst other skills. Comradeship is not for everybody. I could remember a time when I so desperately wanted to be a comrade. After seeing first hand the work and effort that has to be put into it, i immediately withdrew my interest in becoming one. After witnessing and engaging with comrades, I've come to the conclusion that these skills are a must have for any comrade to be successful.

Good networking skills

A comrade is not a comrade if he doesn't know how to network. Networking means getting to know people that share same interest as you. Infact they must not have the same interest as you but the whole idea of networking is to be able to share meaningful information with people in order to grow your professional life or business. In this case, to become a successful comrade, one needs to be able to network with people in order to grow and lock more future opportunities.

Selflessness

A comrade is not a comrade if he is selfish. As a comrade you need to put the interest of the people you are representing above yours. You need to make sure everything you do is for the intrest of those who put you in office. I believe when the interest of the people is fulfilled, it also favors the interest of the comrade as well. Selflessness is key my comrades.

Communication and persuasive skills

A comrade needs to have a very good communication skills. You need to be able to communicate to your audience properly and and make them understand your intentions. Miscommunication can lead to misunderstanding and misunderstanding can lead to conflict. As a comrade you need to be persuasive as well. When negotiating on behalf of the people your serving, you need to be persuasive in order to get what you want. Some might call it "sugar lips" but it's very necessary for a comrade to be persuasive in his speeches and negotiations.

Conclusion

Most people think school politics is just a mere play ground but the truth is, it's not. People acquire real skills in just participating in it. Skills that'll go a long way in the real world of politics. There are alot of comrades out there trying thier best to be the best version they can be.
