Rock Weathering

Rock Weathering is the breaking or disintegration of conolidated rock into smaller pieces or the atteration of the chemical composition of rock by agents of Weathering, there are three group of agents of Weathering but there are only types of Weathering.

The three agents are ::

1. Physical
2. Chemical agents
3. Biological agents.

Due of the fact that these agents can only breakdown rock either physical or chemically.

Physical Weathering and it agents..

Temperature: Temperature changes in day and might as well as seasonal variation in air and earth temperature give rise to expansion and contruction in rock because of the differnt minerial contained in the rock.

Water : water can act as a physical against both in the solid form as ice or in liqiud form

This is prevalent in or temperature regions where what can change state because of fluctedation is air temperature when the temperature rise this process of frcezing points and below (20°c) the water normally frezes and expand when the temperature rise.

Wind : the abrasive power of wind makes it an important agents of physical Weathering the sand and ever the graval caniel by the wind grind away.

Chemical Weathering and its Agents.

1. Oxidation: by the process of oxidation oxygen is the most energentic oxidation agents in nature.

Acrion oxidation is conolidated by the presure of moisture but ever in the desent there is sufficient to promote oxidation reaction through the process in more acrive in the regions Iron minerial that oxidation more generally then other minerial are common.

1. Hydration: Hydration involved a chemical reaction of other constitvent with water.

2. Solution : water is know as the unversal conected within other agents of chemical Weathering namely Carbonation oxidation and Hydration.

The solvent action of water by it self is slow, but with some salt or acids in the solution the effect increase.

This prevalent in industria minerial that will not be affected by the solvent action of water in the most important factors in the decompostion of rock.
