All work and no play makes jack a dull boy.

This adage might sound old, but it's still very much applicable in our daily lives on campus.
The truth is that from time to time, students on campus need to engage in a form of physical or non physical activities or games to help them ease academic stress. This different activities such as sports, camping and excursions would help to boost mental health and also help to reduce stress.

Today, I'd like to introduce and write on my favourite game that has helped to keep me sane and mentally stable up to this point in the University Of Nigeria, Nsukka. So seat still and read and don't forget to use the comment section to share your views too.

THE GAME OF CHESS

Popularly known as the "Royal game" because of it's popularity among the nobles and the rich during the time past.
Chess is one of the most oldest and a very popular board game. The game has to do with the art of war, therefore it requires a lot of tactics and strategy.

It is played by two opponents on a checkered board with specially designed pieces of contrasting colors, commonly white and black. Each player is only allowed to control sixteen chess piece.
The chess piece are one king, one queen, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, and eight pawns. A winner emerges when an opponent is able to checkmate or capture the other players king.

Actually, i fell in love with the game of chess, in my 100level days in Eni njoku hostel Unn. Then i literally would stand and watch in sheer admiration as a group of hostel boys would gather to play the game after a hectic day in school. Amazed by what i saw i decided to learn in other to compete with other fellow hostel mates. At first it was weird considering that i didn't really know how to play the game. But once i began getting a grasp of the various rules of the game, and how to move each chess piece across the board. i immediately found out i was deeply in love with this beautiful game of strategy. This lead to long hours of research on YouTube to learn various strategies on how to win the game and further increase my skills.

Playing and learning about the game over the years has really helped to improve my skills and not long ago i discovered a community of student chess players in campus, that i must say has really helped to improve my playing skills as well as helped me make quite a lot of friends.

Currently, i might not be a grandmaster of chess, or one of the best players around, but i must admit i can hold my own against any other opponent in the world. .Lol.

Thanks for reading.

This is another game I will love to learn but each attempt has always been futile. Now I feel like it is only for geniuses.
