Dealing with anxiety as a student| 20% payout to Campusconnectng by @christnenye
It feels good to write again, happy new year to you all. Hope you all are doing great?
Anxiety is one of the challenges students face which I will be writing on today.
Anxiety is an uneasy or distressing desire for something, a restless state of the mind characterised by difficulty in focusing, feeling of danger, panic, nervousness and restlessness, etc. In order words, anxiety is a state of the mind when one is panicked or worried as a result of impossibility and uncertainty usually expressed as feelings. Anxiety is basically caused by fear.
Anxiety is a natural occurrence which every individual must face off in our daily lives. This is because life itself is not fair and we humans must face unfair situations daily. These unfair or unfavourable situations are the cause of anxiety.
Most students in our campuses are facing anxiety which has done more harm than good to them. Students express anxiety for fear of failure in exams, financial challenges, inability to cope with studies, fear of threats from lectures, fear of threats from fellow students who are into cultism, etc.
Anxiety can make a student to lose focus, thereby causing the failure of most students in exams. When a student is too nervous about something, he/she can not concentrate to do well. For example, the fear of a lecturer or the course in particular can cause tension to a student in an exam hall, if that happens the student may not probably do well.
~Draw your attention to the good things~
One's attention should always be on the good things, always see things on the good side and not the negative. This will help you as a student to overcome anxiety thereby giving you the sight to stay focused.
~Face your fears, don't avoid~
Campus life is always challenging and most students try as much to avoid the stress it brings. Trying to avoid your challenges as a student will make your anxiety grow worse. Don't avoid, rather face your challenges.
~Have self confidence~
Being confident of yourself especially in examination and assessment will always help you do well in terms of academic performances.
~Don't get yourself into trouble~
Avoid whatever thing that will make you to have a problem with your lectures, fellow students and staffs on campus. This will help you to keep a good relationship with everyone. Stay in the right places at the right time.
~Take some good rest or sleep~
This will definitely help you in dealing with anxiety as a student, the more and quality sleep you get will determine your anxiety level. Sleep is an important factor for emotional regulation and processing. Get enough sleep!
CONCLUSION
Anxiety will always be part of your life as a student, but try as much to have control over it. Anxiety if not properly managed can cause you depression which is not good for your mental, social and emotional well-being.
Thanks for your time, I appreciate.
