Academic trauma can be defined as the anxiety, pressure, stress, sometimes failure felt around testing and overloading of academic work. Academic trauma from anxiety comes when Students express fear of failure in exams, inability to cope with studies, financial challenges, fear of threats from fellow students who are into cultism and fear of threats from lectures.

Academic trauma can also come when a student feels pressured to do well( achieve higher grades/success) at school and when such student is unable to meet up can sometimes leads to deficiency in physical, social and emotional health of the student.

I am more concern in this writeup on academic trauma that comes from failure. Many students feels this trauma whenever they encounter failure in one or two courses most especially the final year students in campuses. Failure of course, can come from mistakes which can be intentional when it's of one's fault in failing to prepare(read) well before partaking in an examination and can also be unintentional when it's caused by missing script, failing due to not meeting up with a lecturer demand that can be in terms of cash or kind(sex) on the side of females.

Keep in mind that academic trauma caused by failure is not the end of life, committing suicide can never be a solution, rather seek advice from people who had similar error but overcome them, think of other steps to follow to tackle the mistakes, speak positively to yourself that failure in a course is not failure in life and try again.

It's of importance to bring to you ways to control the trauma caused by academic challenge

~Make an out plan~This can also be called contingency plan (plan B). The question is always, if mistakely this happen what other alternative do I have? The alternative approach should be pleading for the course to be "waved" / removed for one.

~Frown at unreasonable beliefs about failure~: Not getting desired results as expected in a particular course shouldn't make one to become trumatized, always be positive about your adventure (exams in this case).

~Be prayerful~Our efforts are always crowned with grace that comes from prayers. There are things your physical strength cannot avert but prayers can avert them.

Stress, pressure, and anxiety that come from academic workload can be tense, but trauma that comes from failure is disastrous, nobody wants to fail. Instead of being pessimistic when failing, a student should be optimistic, and have a critical look at the situation. It's good to be prayerful and frown at unreasonable beliefs about failure, and a student should also have it at the back of his mind that what he sows is what he reaps, as such he needs to study harder. Female students need to be wise, they should not expose themselves to danger in the name of so much cordiality with male lecturers, they should also study harder, nice write-up, thanks for sharing with us.

Thanks boss, I appreciate you always.

What causes academic trauma in most cases is fear and anxiety. This fear may arise from student's inability to do well in academic activities thereby making him/her become anxious. This inturn causes distress to the student and if not properly managed can lead to suicidal thoughts and actions.
Treat from fellow students and lecturers also contribute to academic trauma like you said but if a student will be nice to his/ her fellow students and adhere to a lecturer's instructions (positive instructions) he/she may not be a victim to get traumatized academically.
In simple language, be polite and always play it cool to be at the safer side, you will never be a victim of academic trauma.
